Dan Rafael chat wrap 8/19:
- Nery beating Yamanaka did not surprise him. Nery is one of his top up and coming prospects.
- Floyd decides what is shown off on all access as he is executive producer.
- Part of McGregor's fan interest is definitely the great white hope angle.
- The commission's hypocrisy for the Mayweather-McGregor fight is concerning.
- In his opinion it looked like Paulie got knocked down.
- Had lunch with Arum and the names for Loma's fight in December have remained the same and include Salido and Rigo.
- Arum has said that whoever agrees first (Salido or Rigo) will get the December date vs. Lomachenko.
- After Lomachenko vs. Salido, he went out with other writer's to where members of Salido's team were celebrating post fight victory and they said "I'm glad we got him tonight, because after 3-4 more fights we have no chance against him".
- GGG's weight is a non issue.
- No news on Peter Quillin.
- The WBC is trying to help mediate to get Stiverne to step aside as that fight isn't really financially viable right now. They are hoping to get a Wilder-Stiverne dual card with the Wilder and Stiverne meeting afterwards.
- PBC fighters are inactive because Showtime can only show so much and PBC has killed its budget and doesn't have a lot of TV deal options.
- Other promoters are trying to sign PBC fighters and selling the idea of making them more active. This is why TR is getting Beterbiev.
- Crawford vs. Indongo? Crawford by late KO.
- Virtually no chance the winner of Crawford vs. Indongo could make all four mandatories for those belts. Plus the winner may move up.
- Kirkland may be back on an ESPN-GB show in October.
- Mosley vs. Lomachenko at 135? Mosley is arguably the second best at 135 behind Duran.
- Mosley vs. Whitaker at 135? With his style, would pick Mosley.
- Trinidad vs. Mosely? At 147 or 154, Mosley easily.
- Charlo vs. Jacobs? Would love it.
- Would love to see Dorticos vs. The Russian Hammer in the World Boxing Series.
- Lewis vs. Wlad in their prime? Lewis.
- The American media killed Lennox Lewis often. He was one of a few who didn't.
- Joshua will take his mandatory vs. Pulev next.
- Saw Mike Alvarado and seemed to be in a good place and looked in great shape.
- Favorite one sided beat down was Mosley-Margarito.
- Glad to see Jennings back in action. Good dude.
- Arum is not going back to cable with the ESPN deal in place.
- The fact that Indongo's odds of winning are more than 2x worse than McGregor's vs. Mayweather (betting wise) is insanity.
- Valdez's fight on Sept. 22 will be on ESPN.
- Glad Showtime did not agree to let LSC and Mares fight tune up fights.
- If Benevidez beats Gavril he will be the youngest to ever win a SMW title.
- Unlikely Mikey Garcia fights the Indongo-Crawford winner. If he did fight one of them, Indongo would be the more likely one.
