Golovkin Ridicules Canelo's Performance Against Chavez Jr.

Gennady Golovkin considers Saul "Canelo" Alvarez to be the biggest puncher that he's ever been up against in the ring.

The eagerly-awaited middleweight superfight will take place at Las Vegas's T-Mobile Arena on September 16, fight promoters confirmed on Monday. Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions had suggested a range of venues from Dallas to Los Angeles were being considered for the fight, one of the most mouthwatering match-ups in years.

However Golden Boy confirmed that the fight would be held at the 20,000-capacity T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. De La Hoya said Golden Boy had received expressed interest from several large-capacity venues, notably the Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium in Texas and baseball's Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Madison Square Garden in New York had also lobbied for the fight. But some of the location never submitted actual offers to secure the fight.

Golovkin believes Canelo is a bigger hitter than David Lemieux and Daniel Jacobs - two of the hardest punchers at the middleweight limit.

"No, [I haven't fought anybody as powerful as Canelo or hits as hard], nobody. I think he's first [among my opponents], he's the first real champ," Golovkin told TMZ.

"I'll train for this at 100%. It's a different style. He knows me and I know him. We trained together four years ago. But it's a little bit different. My coach Abel Sanchez has a plan. This is boxing. This is a huge fight for both of us. We are both ready for a big drama show. I don't think [he's felt a punch like mine]."

At the same time, Golovkin was surprised that Canelo was unable to stop Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. last month. Canelo battered and dominated Chavez Jr. over twelve rounds for a decision win at T-Mobile. The fight took place at a catch-weight of 164.5-pounds. Chavez Jr. appeared to have nothing in the tank.

“It was very interesting for me – because why couldn’t he stop him or knock him down? He looks terrible. He must [get the knockout]. If he has so much energy, so much power [by choosing to stand between rounds], then show me in the next round. After first round [you stand between rounds to show off], then stop him in the second round. That was to show muscles, maybe for girls," Golovkin said

It's hard to knock out a guy who's only plan is to survive. Especially a big ass tree stump like Chavez. If julio fought like he said he would, he gets stopped. You can say what you want about Canelo's power, but nobody ever wants to trade shots with him. And little g will find out why very early in the fight. He's gonna be leaking by the 3rd round. Mark my words.

Did Bowe, Lennox, Holyfield, and Ruddock sign a non-binding form saying the winner of the respective fights would fight each other? Yes or no?
Before Bowe even fought Holyfield did Rock Newman start trying to claim they might fight Foreman if they win, and ignore Lewis, who had already won his fight against Ruddock?
Doesn't that show you off the top Bowe's camp did not want anything to do with Lewis.

You say Lennox priced himself out, HBO offered both fighters 32 million to make the fight happen.
Rock Newman offered Lennox's camp 3 mil, a 90 - 10 split. Now you tell me how the fukk is that Lennox Lewis pricing himself out?
They then offered Lewis 2 mil to fight on the undercard of Bowe's first defense, which Lennox's camp refused seeing that they reneged on the agreement to fight the respective winners of Lewis/Ruddock and Bowe/Holyfield.

Rock Newman then offered the following deal 5 mil each, winner gets the remainder of the money, and loser gets training expenses paid.
He reworked that deal to a winner takes all pot for the 32 mil, Lennox and his camp accepted the offer and they said Newman then broke off all talks

Memory Lane: When Bowe Ducked Lewis - BoxingInsider.com

Documented breh. Bowe ducked outright
No, it shows that Newman didn't want to deal with the crooked ass WBC. Bowe was originally offered the WBC eliminator fight against Ruddock before Lewis. And they opted to go the WBA route. Showing that Newman from the start wanted no parts of the WBC and their crooked politics.

The 90/10 split offer was bullshyt, won't argue against that. But it was changed to a 75/25, which is the same split Bowe took as the challenger against Holyfield. And Lewis declined. How you gonna turn down a career high payday and a shot at all the belts like that? You get an offer like that, you take it.

If they were scared of Lewis, they wouldn't have even tried to make as money offers as they did. They made Lewis an offer the following year which Lewis turned down. Plus they agreed in 95 to fight before Lewis lost. How you scared of somebody you agree to fight?

It was all politics, Bowe throwing the belt in the trash was a middle finger to the WBC, had nothing to do with being afraid of Lewis

Why sign the letter of intent if you didn't fukk with the WBC? Come on man.
Yeah the 90/10 split was an offer that showed they didn't want to fight, the winner take all or winner take rest purses were fukking crazy. Too, but Lennox and his team agreed to the winner take all, and Bowe's team cut off negotiations, so how can you claim they ducked or didn't want it? You can't. Newman didn't want the fight period.
As for 95, its inconsequential in my eyes, the damage was already done and the opportunity missed.

Hard to say it was all politics, when Lennox and his team signed the agreement that newman drew up and newman said fukk it and killed communication.
