A big HW fight > a big whatever else division fight:manny:

Casuals LOVE Heavyweights and so does the Boxing media. With the correct promotion, which they would have, an undefeated Anthony Joshua vs an undefeated Deontay Wilder fight would sell out any market and do great numbers on PPV. You're saying the UK/European market, but forgetting if it wasn't for Mexico, Canelo's #'s wouldn't be where they are either....so we cant dismiss Joshua's fanbase if we aint dismissing Canelo's.:ld:

Plus, I wanna see that fight more than Canelo/GGG anyways. I don't think Canelo/GGG will live up to the hype:yeshrug:

That might be a tactical fight

Why would I give you the benefit of the doubt when we repeatedly told you, both @krackdagawd and I, that Chavez would be drained and have nothing for Canelo?:jbhmm:

You denied that would happen......but it unfolded 100% like we told you it would........but now you're asking for the "benefit of the doubt"?:dwillhuh:

You were just wrong.:manny:

There was no doubt of what was going to happen when you're asking a fighter who struggles to make HIGHER weights, which is why he moved all the way up to Light Heavyweight, to make a weight he hasn't made in 5 years:heh:
He's always done it in the past and he looked great in the fight :manny:

Was too much for him this time ariund:manny:

Robert Easter vs. Denis Shafikov - Ticket Information

TOLEDO, OH - Unbeaten lightweight world champion Robert Easter (19-0, 14 KOs) will defend his title in his hometown when he takes on mandatory challenger Denis Shafikov (38-2-1, 20 KOs) in the main event of Premier Boxing Champions on Bounce live from the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio on Friday, June 30.

Televised coverage begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and will be headlined by the hometown star Easter, who last defended his title in the same venue and on Bounce by knocking down Luis Cruz three times on his way to a unanimous decision.

"I am always happy to fight at home, but I think the excitement in Toledo will be even bigger this time and I can't wait," said Easter. "I also have a baby on the way and the due date is June 5, so I will be able to fight knowing my son is here and I am extra pumped because of that. I know that I have a tough opponent, but I am not afraid of any fighter. This is what boxing is about. Shafikov is coming to take my belt, but I know that I will be victorious once again."

"I'm looking forward to this fight on June 30," said Shafikov. "I know that I have a very tough opponent in front of me. I have been waiting for this opportunity to get this belt and I plan on doing everything in my power to make it happen."

"This is going to be Robert's biggest challenge yet," said Ravone Littlejohn, CEO of About Billions Promotions. "Shafikov is a tough fighter and this is exactly the type of fight Robert needs as he steps up to the next level of championship boxing. This fight is going to prepare him for his future and we're excited to be back in Toledo for it."

"This bout has Fight of the Year written all over it," said Leon Margules, President of Warriors Boxing. "Both fighters gained their position by beating the same fighter, Richard Commey, by identical split decisions. That, plus the enthusiasm of Robert Easter's hometown fans, will make June 30 a night to remember."

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by About Billions Promotions in association with Warriors Boxing, are priced at $225 $125, $100, $75, $55 and $35, and are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting www.ticketmaster.com, or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

An accomplished amateur who was a 2012 U.S. Olympic alternate, the 26-year-old Easter picked up five-straight victories dating back to the beginning of 2015 before earning his world title opportunity against Richard Commey in September 2016. Easter was successful in holding off the unbeaten Commey as he was able to earn a split-decision victory in a memorable fight. Now, Easter will step into the ring as the fighting pride of his hometown for the second time, looking to dispatch arguably his toughest opponent to date.

A 31-year-old brawler from Russia, Shafikov brings an exciting style to the ring as he prepares to capitalize on his third world title opportunity. A pro since 2003, Shafikov was unbeaten in his first 34 pro contests and has challenged Rances Barthelemy and Miguel Vazquez in his previous title fights that both went to decisions. Shafikov impressed in his two outings last year, first earning a stoppage victory over then unbeaten Jamel Herring in July before earning this title fight by beating Richard Commey in December.

Absolutely.

This fight isn't big the US right now :manny:

Wilder needs a headline worthy win over here and Joshua needs a few exhibitions in our market to drum up interest. They'd sell over a mil PPVs in the UK and fill up Wembley. Not much more than just another big-ish fight in our market, at that Swift/Thurman or Kovalev/Ward level. Canelo-JCCjr probably just did a mil. No reason to think Canelo-GGG doesn't do the same or more.

You really think Wilder/Joshua could move a million US buys at this point in time? :jbhmm:

No where close to a mill...500k at the max.

Match needs to marinate

UFC's White Sets Deadline on Mayweather vs. McGregor Fight

UFC President Dana White is hoping to finalize one portion of the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor deal by this coming Sunday.

If White is unable to get a deal done with McGregor (21-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC) by Sunday, he plans to move forward in another direction with the MMA superstar. If he's able to reach an agreement with McGregor, then White will begin negotiations with Mayweather (49-0, 26 KOs) and his team on Monday.

“I plan on having this thing locked up by this Sunday and then moving on to Team Mayweather and start to negotiate with them,” White told “The Jim Rome Show” on CBS Sports Radio. “If we really do get it done in that timeframe, then this thing could possibly happen. Again, I still have to go negotiate with them. There’s no guarantee that we’re going to come to a deal.”

The negotiations have been dragging on for month's between the two athletes.

White was hoping to stage the event on September 16th, but now the pay-per-view date has been taken by the middleweight blockbuster between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

White believes the chances of reaching a deal with McGregor is very good - but White is not as optimistic about reaching a deal with Mayweather.

“That was the date we were shooting for,” White said. “I was doing an interview earlier and they said, ‘Well the MGM says you hadn’t held the date.’ We hadn’t – we hadn’t held the date. But that’s the date we were shooting for. … I didn’t see any big fights coming up that we couldn’t have took the date from if they ended up with that date.

“Then they come up with Canelo and ‘GGG,’ which is a real fight. That’s a fight I’ll actually buy tickets for and go to myself. So, yeah, life waits for nobody. We should have moved faster, we should have moved further along in the negotiations, and it’s our own fault.

“I think (the chances of a deal with McGregor) are pretty good. Hopefully Monday I’m going to sit down and negotiate with Team Mayweather. I just can’t keep messing with this thing. I have to run my business and I have to focus on all the other things that are going on around here.”

Why this guy keeps popping up around this hypothetical fight?
McGregor can't be such stupid to let this man control him even outside of the sport where he's actually fighting
Dana White holds no units in the boxing world he's not one to give deadlines to negotiations about boxing fights.
