with the way HBO has treated him, I don't blame him. especially with how HBO made it seem like he was ducking kovalev from the get go. then after the decision, they zoom in on him and make it seem like he was shocked that he won. ward has done commentary with HBO and worked alongside these guys many of times, and i'm 100% positive they probably kiss his ass when he's in their presence. why would any self respecting man give a fukk about these two faced clowns?.....ward don't gotta do shyt but show up to fight. he already fought kovalev and won and HBO refused to give him any credit for it. like he said saturday night. HBO billed the fight as "pound for pound", then they went back on their word. you think if kov won the controversial decision, HBO would be acting in the same manner?:mjpls:........HBO's treatment of ward has been an absolute joke, but they still expect him to fall in line and keep a smile on his face. fukk all that.
If Ward told HBO he wouldn't participate in a Face Off is one thing and something i dont have an issue with, but if he agreed to do it, HBO set the shyt up and then he dipped/didn't show up?? Nah I can't rock with that, and from what I'm reading thats what it sounds like he did.

I think we should reserve judgement until all of the facts are out and we get his side to the story.

I haven't forgotten Duva pulling a similar stunt building up to their 1st fight.

it seems like he likes to be difficult for the sake of being difficult.

Yeah like the day after he fought Alexander Brand holding a press conference and telling the media that Ward was a no-show.

Sound familiar

Despite the 4-inch height advantage and an obvious weight edge after he rehydrated, Chavez was overmatched in his first fight under iconic trainer Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain.

"Canelo beat me, he beat me at the distance," Chavez, Jr. said. "He is a very active fighter-he's very good and he beat me. I wanted to box but he went to the ropes and I just needed to throw more punches. I would've attacked more I would've been countered by his punches. Nacho told me to do that but the strategy didn't work. The speed and the distance was the key. I didn't feel that much power because I felt dwindled, I couldn't throw as many punches as I wanted. My father kept telling me to throw more punches from the ringside."

So he's admitting that Nacho told him to let his hands go, but he didn't bc he would've been countered.........just like Nacho said:wow:

"It was really negative, everything, totally, we did not win a round. It is not possible to cover the sun with a finger, Canelo Alvarez is simply better technically speaking," Nacho said to ESPN Deportes.

"I asked him to throw punches, simply to throw punches but he was afraid to throw a jab or a certain combination because he knew that three or four punches would come back in return, and those doubts were born in his head real early and they stayed with him for the entire fight."

"[I don't blame the fans for being frustrated with is performance], they are quite right in feeling that way, and I feel the same way too, and he must also be frustrated, his father too, everyone. He should apply himself and he should behave like a boxing pro and success will come to him."

Also, Chavez saying he was drained though....too bad that excuse wont fly bc #CaneloCartel was beat over the head with the fact Chavez "looked good" and "always looks like that" and he wouldn't be drained bc it was "memo's plan" @GzUp :sas2:

I look at the level of competition heading into a fight. When I look at Canelo's last few fights, they all consist of "money moves." Amir Khan, Liam Neeson, and Chavez Jr aren't going to exactly prepare you for a guy like GGG. What happened to the days where the type of matchmaking was put together to prepare you for a big fight? We really have no idea what Canelo has to offer at 160. We just know that he's very talented.

GGG's last couple of opponents were Brook and Jacobs. Against Brooks, he got to experience fighting a guy with WW handspeed, the type of handspeed he's not accustomed to seeing at MW. He also had the opportunity to fight Jacobs, which means he had the recent experience of grinding out a close fight against a guy that could potentially be a tougher fight stylistically than Canelo.

I'm going to edge GGG. I just don't like Canelo's resume at all. Mayweather JR and Lara are the only two fighters on his resume I felt had a legit chance of beating him.

You could argue the same for GGG, but at least he started collecting belts one by one, which indicates he's trying to make the best of what he could with 160.

I'm looking forward to this fight. Gives me sort of a Cotto/Margarito feel for some reason.

Saying Brook is a good test before Canelo cause his speed is like saying Chavez Jr. is a good test before Golovkin cause of his size. Oversimplification and not true.
and just because Golovkin's recent fight was against a tougher opponent than Canelo's we gonna forget about how much better opponents Canelo faced otherwise?

If we would have to rank all their opponents, out of the top 5, 4 would be Canelo opponents (Mayweather, Lara, Trout, Cotto) and only one Golovkin opponent (Jacobs)
Also the Jacobs case...
Did Jacobs prove that he is better than we thought? Yep. But you gotta remember that the guy was a 15-1 underdog and he ended up beating Golovkin in many people's eyes. Now it's not fair from Golovkin fans to claim that the guy is some extra class if they originally thought he will be a food for Golovkin.
Canelo struggled against opponents who he supposed to struggle against. Nobody thought before he fought Lara or Trout that he's gonna wash those guys. In fact they were very difficult style matchups for Canelo more difficult on paper than Jacobs to Golovkin.

Golovkin is all about forward momentum and his preferred range. Take away from him these and you win. Not many fighter can do it and it's easier said than done but Canelo is able to do it imo... He gonna back Golovkin off and imo maybe bully him at points. Golovkin moves forward but when he get inside he rather tries to reset and try again than rough his opponent up so if somebody can stand his ground without absorbing much damage or move laterally consistently he should be able to beat Golovkin.
For the former one needs good defense, good reflexes to slip punches, an arsenal to land punches on Golovkin and at least respectable power to back him off. Sound like Canelo to me.

thats why i tagged @MIAlien in hopes he might know why

Truth is already out there but it won't get picked up.
:sas1:

I talked to a source with knowledge of the matter from the Ward perspective. The source said actually, it was Kovalev who no showed. The two men were supposed to both be interviewed Saturday night in Vegas during the HBO PPV topped by the Canelo Alvarez-Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fight.

Kovalev didn’t take part, Ward did, the source said.

The Oakland boxer then decided to leave. He wasn’t going to go out of his way to accommodate Kovalev after the Russian disseminated three weeks ago what the New York Post called “a new promo for the bout on his social media account that is rife with racist and anti-gay slurs.”

Main Events puts Ward on social media blast for skipping 'Face Off' - The Ring

I know for a fact Ward was on my television during Canelo Chavez, I didn't see KKK tho.

Yeah he doesn't have to do shyt to promote his fight. He should just continue rocking as the best P4P fighter in the world doing 160k in PPV sales. That'll show them :snoop:

People will downplay Danny as some bum but he would stop canelo.

GGG just has faced Fighters that would beat canelo... What u say is very true, canelo has not prepared himself for someone like GGG.. He could have faced a banger at least but he would probably lose to them so it makes sense to avoid it I suppose.
