Chavez was first up to meet with the media and stated that he is better equipped to represent Mexico and their glorious history in the sport of boxing. The son of Mexican icon Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. has repeatedly stated that he has faced better competition and that he has done it without some of the weight advantages that he believes Canelo has had for his fights.

When Chavez's comments were relayed to Alvarez, the former two-division champion from Guadalajara asked the question right back to reporter. Canelo dug deep and cited Chavez's failed drug tests and well noted lack of dedication and discipline in some of his previous training camps.

I honestly dont want Wilder vs AJ THIS year. Let Wilder Ortiz and AJ satisfy his mandatory, both fight a stay busy jobber in November, then they touch gloves March/April 2018.
