I don't care what anybody has to say...I am happy for Briggs that he is getting that title shot (hopefully). Far more shyttier fighters have been given unwarranted opportunities that Shannon and at the very least Shannon brings the funny so things aren't boring.

briggs is like a roy jones or a michael katsidis to me...i just dont want to see them fight anymore period because you know that they are damaged and they keep rollin the dice

Brings is right. He should have got a title shot a while ago. Hes a 2x champ and he's the #2 most marketable fighter in boxing.

He better be worried about getting stopped by Walters. He also said something ridiculous about getting passed the first 4 rounds & the fight getting easier. I haven't seen Walters fade in any fight he's been in

let them be over confident...same mistake they did vs salido.:mjlol:

Sort of like Mayweather-Pacquiao... I assumed that Ward was on that "other" level. Perhaps I was wrong, maybe those days are over. Or perhaps, he just hasn't gotten there (and beyond) YET...
I was wondering that same thing. And I think it has more to do with his right shoulder than anything else.

I haven't seen anyone bring up Ward's unwillingness to let his right hand go regularly. I don't know how much of it is mental, but when he did throw the right hand, it still had none of the accuracy or power it had before the surgery. His overhand rights looked awkward, like a Philip Rivers pass, and he had plenty of opportunities to throw them and he wouldn't. How many fighters has he beaten now with a gameplan that was primarily left handed? I know he just beat the top guy in the division with one hand, but he got dropped and it looked like he was telegraphing right hooks and Kov wasn't worried at all. He was standing in and looking to counter every right Ward threw.

Ward's an exclusive left hand fighter now, we talked about it in the ring chat yesterday. It's a shame, because unless it's a short body shot, his right isn't effective at all. When he does throw it from distance, it's that slapping right hand to the body :mjcry:

I don't think that's fixable tbh, but he'll be fine if he can keep getting shots off inside. He also needs to work his head movement better, especially if he's going to be fighting Kov again and then Stevenson. Or else Stevenson could KO him.

I was sitting in a coffee shop last night thinking about it, and I may have figured out what it is...

Vibe with me on this but..... Ward hasn't gotten back into full-swing yet. While I do believe it's obtainable to do so, and go even higher. I just feel like I'm watching Ali in the 70s, and not the 60s. For this reason, I also believe this was Kovalev's shot at dethrowning the P4P great, and the rematch will be a lot more decisive in Ward's favor. However, that's just hopeful thinking, I'm not convinced Ward is the fighter before the layoff...no offense to Kovalev, he's a great fighter.

(apologize for all of this typing, just had to get it off my chest)

I know exactly what you're talking about. I don't think his natural skillset is made for 175. That combined with his shoulder problem.

Ward took a good amount of time getting up to 175, and for good reason, but it's almost like he's too muscular(no tua) for the weight?

Prime example is look at his neck muscles now, and when he fought froch. How can you slip your head as quickly with those bulky muscles?

It makes the fact he went up to 175, didn't go for any #WardWeight and dispatched of the EuroDemon, even more impressive.

I also think he may be falling out of love with actually boxing, due to politics.

Ward's mastery of spacing is next level, but you're right about his head movement needing work. Kov figured it out pretty quickly, and it lines up perfectly for a southpaw with power. I just wish he would let the right hand go a little more, even if it was just to keep guys honest. Kov showed no respect, not even for a check hook, when he came forward. And once he had Kov gassed, he had plenty of openings. I'm hoping it makes an appearance in the next fight, but I doubt it.

He's saying he only needs 4 rounds to adjust to Walters

It didn't seem like that but I know there's the language barrier so I roll with you on that bro. But what happens when Walters adjusts to him? You know the Axe Man is one of the better counter punchers in the lower weight class right? He's like a little Terry Norris but more responsible defensively @patscorpio
