When the current biggest PPV star can't even do 500k as a Messican on Cinco De Mayo

Those numbers are out of context...

like Krack said...people were being spoiled by the ridiculous and abnormal #'s Pac & Mayweather were putting up this past decade.

The only dude that did big numbers on PPV with relatively unknown opponents were Tyson...and he's a larger than sports type figure...

And it took Pac & Mayweather years & years & years of big fights before they were able to consistently draw big #'s on PPV with relatively no name opponents...

People forget Oscar used to avg around 300-400k buys on PPV when he didn't have big name opponent....or an opponent with a large fanbase (like Trinidad)

His fight with Chavez Sr. only did 500k buys....Sweat Pea 750k buys...Mosley 600k buys

Canelo's drawing power today is more or less consistent with Oscar's during his prime.

GGG - Canelo does have a couple things going for it, in the face of a lot of things against it.

I would expect it to do better thanks Khan because it feels like more fans and media want it. The media itself will be happy to promote this fight.

Also PPV's arent just about overall #'s, but also the money negotiated to go out. GGG will be paid less than both Khan and Cotto got vs. Canelo, so the breakeven would be more reasonable.

I wonder if disappointing numbers for Canelo-Khan help or hurt a GGG PPV. I could see both sides being true.

That said, for the fall it really does leave Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto, and GGG as the best options for Canelo. I dont see people lining up to be excited about Lemieux in a second PPV.

This news actually complicates Canelo Ggg, why take that risk when the ppv might sell between 300-500k some of their fans correspond and are one in the same, therefore I dont see the fight getting made right now...

Canelo has to beat either Floyd or Manny to ever get his ppv juice back and for him that should be priority, you can't be the future of the sport, when the past of the sport arguably shut you out, he'll never be believable in that regard, he needs a lions head to place on the mantal, team ggg aint helping they should have bended over backwards for cotto after canelo beat him, Canelo can get 300-400 thousand ppv buys fighting himself, exactly why I dont see it getting made with the news

Marquez being a counterpuncher is a myth, he's a educated brawler does understands countering and circling nothing more...And lets not let a roided j m m affect our perception of Mannys atg chin, what if Manny throws his arms up and laugh after Canelo lands that one shot around round when he's sucking wind...I really don't want to hear about issues with counterpunchers when Manny had Floyd apprehensive to counter as he was countering some of his shots and got to his chin...
