The first fight did what 4, 4.5 mil in PPV? @GREENandYELLOW how many do you think the second one would sell? With the way Floyd was talking last weekend a rematch is the only fight that makes sense. After that payday Floyd wont want something significantly less. There were enough manufactured excuses and just general interest the fight would sell well. Maybe not first fight well, but still the biggest selling fight available in boxing. Pacquiao would be down for the ride. He doesn't have anything remotely near what he could get from this.
Found it a bitthat Floyd was going to come back for his 50th to fight Garcia or Thurman-Porter winner. Doesn't have that event feel to it. Let alone the finances.
I have no idea. The first fight did what 4, 4.5 mil in PPV? @GREENandYELLOW how many do you think the second one would sell?
I have no idea.
But I do I think because the first fight was largely panned as a disappoint from an entertainment perspective and before the fight took place had so much built up energy in fans wanting the fight, that it can't touch the record setting buys the first fight did. Pacquiao and Mayweather are still the two biggest names in the sport and I think a lot of fans still believe Pacquiao is the only fighter who can beat Floyd (and many believe he was hurt) that the fight will gain plenty of traction.
I think doing well over 2 million buys is still most likely, it gives Mayweather that 9 figure payday he wants and is still easily the largest financial fight available in boxing. Like all Mayweather fights vs. quality or exciting opponents, the idea that Mayweather will be in an action fight (which is what his detractors really want) tends to win out as fans get hyped near his fights.
