Went immediately to look up guys like Julio Cesar Chavez and Carlos Monzon..........didn't seem to have records like that. Imma look up earlier ones like Willie Pep Archie Moore etc......... they seemed to fight the best
I was gonna say that's because it seems like pros nowadays had an extensive amateur career but then guys like Kid Chocolate had like 100 amateur bouts or so..........
. Old timers fought a fukkton
Even the GOAT, SRR, had 32 bouts against guys with a losing record.....which is 16% of his resume.
Now, we know he's very skilled, but if he was facing that many pure bums (not to mention the guys I didn't include who had records like 38-35-5 & 32-29-7 because they had a "winning record"), why do people act like this is something new to this era?
Again, 16% of Floyd's resume would be 8 opponents without a winning record.....Floyd only has 7
It just is what it is....they didn't care about that type of stuff back in the Golden Age
Oh, and yall were discussing amateurs......SRR had 85 career amateur fights, and still had a resume filled with 16% of his fights against guys without a winning record. Seems the norm for me as I review their resumes
