I think those brehs longevity had more to do with their legacy than the actual level of fighters they were facing. Breh fought 119 times. Whose close to that in our lifetime? Lights Out, I believe is at like 90 or some shyt.
I was gonna say that's because it seems like pros nowadays had an extensive amateur career but then guys like Kid Chocolate had like 100 amateur bouts or so.......... :patrice:. Old timers fought a fukkton

You could fight forever if you're facing guys without winning records in 44% of your career bouts....Roy Jones is about to show you in the 3rd phase of his career:sas1:

Went immediately to look up guys like Julio Cesar Chavez and Carlos Monzon..........didn't seem to have records like that. Imma look up earlier ones like Willie Pep Archie Moore etc......... they seemed to fight the best

Even the GOAT, SRR, had 32 bouts against guys with a losing record.....which is 16% of his resume.:wow:

Now, we know he's very skilled, but if he was facing that many pure bums (not to mention the guys I didn't include who had records like 38-35-5 & 32-29-7 because they had a "winning record"), why do people act like this is something new to this era?:jbhmm:

Again, 16% of Floyd's resume would be 8 opponents without a winning record.....Floyd only has 7:ehh:

It just is what it is....they didn't care about that type of stuff back in the Golden Age:manny:

Oh, and yall were discussing amateurs......SRR had 85 career amateur fights, and still had a resume filled with 16% of his fights against guys without a winning record. Seems the norm for me as I review their resumes:sas2:

I've been reading a lot of old-timers resume's lately.....and the thing that stands out is how many bums they actually faced:sas1:

This is what I believe was the point of the thread smoke started. Boxing wasn't as lucrative as it is now and them brehs were looking for every single payday possible.
