There's a difference in fighting beasts like Vargas did at a young age and fighting in squash matches like Verdejo has been doing. Verdejo hasn't even fought a Top 100 fighter yet....and he's about to be 20 fights in come next month.:heh:
I mentioned after Verdejo's last fight that Tito was already going for a world title at the same point in his career. Verdejo's gonna start to border on Wilder/Russell levels of can crushing

Eh, I always look at it on a case by case basis.

Some prospects are more ready than others. I think after your 25th fight you should start fighting better competition. I'll give Verdejo a couple more fights, and if it continues then I'll say something.

I don't have a problem with prospects being brought along slowly until they're ready. You don't wanna bring them along too quickly and have their career damaged because you threw them in before they were ready.

However there is a double standard, so I can see why J-Rock said what he said. I hold all prospects to the same standards.

The only thing I will say is that you don't hear Verdejo calling out fighters and having fans saying he should fight all these people. Like the homie @ChocolateGiddyUp said before: if you a young fighter calling out all these fighters and whatnot and yet you stay fighting jobbers, some people are gonna have a problem with that :manny:
I don't have a problem with Verdejo. In fact, they seem to be doing it right. They know he can build a fan base, so you have to develop that, last year he was hurt and only had his first HBO fight. Plus his first HBO fight was at 130 and his last he fought at 133. He is still growing from all aspects of his career, so I understand taking it slow. It will pay off in the long run.

That said, he is at the point he needs to start introducing better and more experienced opponents. For what it is worth Spence hasn't been moved quickly either and it is to his benefit. Build a following and let these guys get the skills to have long great careers.

Hey Gents. in case you missed the show last night, it was off the chain. Mansour is up first, then Wilder, then Charles Martin. I suggest starting from Wilder (33:33 mark) then working back then Martin. We had Wilder acting a fool.
