his feet tho :francis:

luls in the action that allows the other fighter to gain momentum :francis:

I don't know if his footwork can be fixed with his current team. I'm a firm believe of you can teach an old(or new) dog new tricks but I don't think those Mexicans can help him there. :heh:

I think he can fix the luls in the action by getting a better jab imo he wants to hit nikkas badly with those flashy combos and sometimes be :dead: halfway through the round because of hit. A better jab will give him more success with the combos and keep them guessing if a combo is coming or just the jab. Now he has control of the whole round instead of 70/30 or 60/40 which he is known to do.
I agree with you to a degree. Canelo won't bring the drama, he'd rather sit there and counter which will lead to lulls in action. Especially because he learned to 'counter the counter' krack U know what I mean, but he's basically being able to bait n trap with his throwaway punches BC he knows what will be countered, and he will make that shot count. I stated earlier canelo had been watching floyd a lot. Look at how nelo had success in the pocket. Every time he tagged cotto w the short counter right he was a foot away max. His footwork is what it is for the time being. He can fight off the front n back but the lateral movement n setting the pace w his feet isn't there. Luckily he's got good vision and upper body movement to slip punches for the time being. Saul also can get some pretty good leverage on his shots.

Of course with anything else this can all be improved w a good jab (can also be negated by one). Floyd did it to him, and could again. If cotto worked behind his jab things would have been different.

Canelo was leaving Roy amazed in there :heh:.......and you know Roy aint one of them mindless HBO sheep, he was really impressed by the kid. I would love to see Roy take canelo under his wing and show him a few things. canelo is coming into his prime and still has room for growth.

Ran into Oscar in Vegas. He said a potential Canelo-GGG fight is about a few years away. Either May or September (most likely sept) of 2018.

70½″ / 179cm = Canelo
67″ / 170cm = Cotto
Cotto's also shorter, making the jab that much more difficult to land.
Freddie was on point with backing him up with multiple jabs....... but...... he couldn't implement the gameplan.

He couldn't work behind a single jab because he was too open for that right hand over the top
He couldn't work behind a jab+ (high work rate) because he tires out and gets beaten up in his fights every time he does
He couldn't rely on simply having the better jab because Canelo's defense was better than he expected
Canelo also had the quicker hands which really surprised me

Hindsighting my ass off right now, but Cotto's only advantages were his footwork and experience. I didn't realize how outmatched he was until now. Even if some of the disadvantages were small, they were enough.
