Adrien Broner Promoted To WBA 'Super Champion' Status

Posted by: Hilmar Rojas on 11/6/2015 .

By Hilmar Rojas

Junior welterweight Adrien Broner has now been promoted to the status of "super champion" by World Boxing Association.

Broner (31-2, 23 KO), who captured the "regular" championship on October 3rd with a knockout of Khabib Allakhverdiev, was given a higher status in the organization after a ruling was issued by the WBA Championships Committee. Broner is a four division world champion.

Similarly, the WBA's interim 140-pound Jose Benavidez (23-0, 16 KO) must now be measured against Michele Di Rocco (40-1-1, 18 KO) for the WBA "regular" title - which became vacant when Broner received his higher status.

The winner of the fight between Benavidez and Di Rocco will face Broner next year in a mandatory defense.

All of the involved parties have been notified.

You sound crazy. Margarito aint doing no numbers coming back and is 100% washed up. What do you mean "knows his worth"? He's not "worth" anything right now. He's a washed up former Champion from the mid 20000 - late 2000s, who has a severe eye injury, and hasn't fought in 4 years come December & will be 38 in March.

There's no market and demand for the return of Margarito, and most Boxing people think of him as just a cheater....as you said in your last sentence yourself:ufdup:

That would be stupid for Arum to pay him a lot of money to fight a tuneup on UniMas, let's be serious:comeon:

Nobody knows WHAT type of Boxing condition he is. Only 1 person can pull off a 4 year layoff and bounce back like he never left......

And he wasn't damn near 38 years old either:birdman:

Bradley: Huge Differences Between Atlas, Diaz Camps

Posted by: Keith Idec on 11/6/2015 .

By Keith Idec

Timothy Bradley realized immediately that Teddy Atlas’ training camp was going to be much different than anything he had experienced while working with longtime trainer Joel Diaz.

Bradley described a more regimented, rules-oriented camp when he was asked about those differences during a conference call Wednesday. The two-division world champion, who’ll battle Brandon Rios in a 12-round, 147-pound title fight Saturday night in Las Vegas (HBO; 9:30 p.m. ET), likened the experience to a boot camp, yet made it clear that he enjoyed it because he was learning things Bradley believes have made him a better boxer.

“Well, man, there’s a lot of rules in place,” said Bradley, who hired Atlas in early September to replace Diaz. “You better make sure when you walk into camp you better have your cell phone off. You cannot even bring that thing in the gym. That’s the huge difference from Joel’s training camp, because Joel was on his phone half of the time when we were in training camp. So that’s a huge difference. No cell phones allowed in the gym. And if you do have one, it better be off.

“Two, there’s no music. Zero music. There’s no music in the gym. And that’s great. And no plastic. We don’t use plastic. No plastic at all in the gym. We use the weight the right way. We diet the right way. We do everything right, the right way.”

Atlas places plenty of emphasis on teaching throughout training sessions, during which he is the only person allowed to speak to the fighter he is training.

“Another rule is no one talks but Teddy – no one,” Bradley continued. “No one coaches, no one says anything but Teddy. Teddy’s the one that’s training me. It’s his responsibility to get me ready. Teddy says everything. No one says anything at all. They just follow directions. That’s what they do, all right? So those are the rules.

“It’s a huge, huge difference [from] a Joel Diaz training camp. It’s full focus, curfew’s at 10 o’clock. I talked to Teddy during the day probably four or five times during the day – texting or maybe even calling. He stays in contact with me as far as my diet, as far as my running, as far as everything. Yeah, it is boot camp. It is boot camp and it’s the right way to be, especially at the professional level. But that’s just a few things right there. I mean, I could go on and on and on and on and on. But that’s just a few things, man, that [are] a huge difference in the camp.”

The heavily favored Bradley (32-1-1, 12 KOs, 1 NC), of Palm Springs, California, will defend his WBO welterweight title against Rios (33-2-1, 24 KOs), of Oxnard, California, at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center.

Bradley: Huge Differences Between Atlas, Diaz Camps

After all this self hype he's doing, hyping up how good the training camp and what a difference Teddy Atlas has made for him, he better look GREAT on Saturday:ufdup:
Bum Ass Timothy Bradley is a grown ass man of damn near 40 who is acting like he is a 15 year old who just walked into a gym for the first time with his nutriding of Teddy's rules.
It is also uncool for Bum Ass Timothy Bradley to be shytting on Diaz just because he refuses to look at the man in the mirror for the reason why he isn't a bigger, more beloved star and his career after Marquez has been meh.
No one is to blame for Bum Ass Timothy Bradley being Bum Ass Timothy Bradley but Bum Ass Timothy Bradley.

Roach: Adrien Broner is a Nice Guy, He's No Bullsh*t

Posted by: Radio Rahim on 11/6/2015 .

By Radio Rahim

Last week, the headlines were flying when Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach posted a surprising photo to social media. In the photo, Roach was standing side by side with four division world Adrien "The Problem" Broner.

Rumors began to circulate that Roach and Broner would soon begin a working relationship.

Those rumors were quickly shot down by Broner's current trainer and father-figure, Mike Stafford.

Roach spoke to BoxingScene.com and says Broner is an old friend who came to visit him at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California.

Broner, because of his antics inside and outside the ring, is widely viewed as a very controversial character.

Roach, however, has a completely different take. He says the Broner he knows personally is not the same guy who often raises eyebrows with his wild behavior.

"Adrien Broner when I met him it was his third pro fight and he's a real nice guy. He's really polite and nice to me. One of my fighters was having trouble making weight, so I took him over to the sauna and he came with us. Adrien said 'Freddie, how long is he going to be in there?' And I said 'about a half hour, he needs to lose at least two pounds.' And then he said 'well, I'm going to go in there with him," Roach told BoxingScene.com.

"So I said, 'are you fighting?' And he said 'yes.' I said 'are you overweight?' And he said 'no, I just don't think he should be in there by himself.' I said 'wow, he is a real nice guy.' He went in there and stayed with my fighter for 20, 25 minutes and kept him company in there."

"I know a lot has changed since then, but to me he's still that same person. He's very polite, very cordial. He's a nice guy around me, he's no bullsh*t.'

“The only thing they have controlled is the message on why Joel Diaz was dumped and how great a team they have become,” said Garcia. “We’ll see how long that lasts. I give it three rounds before Tim Bradley goes back to his corner and finds Teddy Atlas sitting on his stool doing his act. Maybe I'm old school but I was taught that the fighter always comes first. Every story coming out of the Bradley camp has been about the trainer. Let's see who takes OWNERSHIP of the loss Brandon pastes on them Saturday night.”
