Dan Rafael chat wrap 8/28:
- Could see Canelo one day moving up to 168.
- Main Events is still looking for Kovalev's next opponent. No word on who.
- Even if Braehmer wins, he is unlikely to be Kovalev's next opponent.
- The PBC/TR/GB lawsuit is in the discovery phase.
- Believes the Mosley-Mayorga scuffle was planned.
- Canelo vs. Cotto undercard is not set. They are working on getting Ward.
- No legit negotiations between Rigo and Loma.
- Picking LSC in a close competitive fight.
- LSC vs. Mares is the best fight on paper that PBC has made.
- Doesn't know the exact particulars, but the tickets sales for LSC-Mares have been very robust.
- Ruslan's next fight will be in Russia and very likely on HBO.
- King won't sign off to let Stiverne to fight Ortiz.
- Cleverly vs. Fonfara is a good fight.
- TR's schedule has been light, but hopefully it gets better this fall with fights from Rios, Bradley, Lomachenko, and Verdejo.
- Any Pacquiao fight talk is pure speculation. He is out for the rest of this year at least.
- Doubtful we see a Wlad-Povetkin rematch anytime soon.
- His favorite fighters are Gatti, SRL, and Freitas.
- Brook will fight before the end of the year. No word on an opponent.
- Chavez would be a decent opponent for Brook, but nothing great.
- Schaefer's sit out is done. He said he is not going to rush back and is going to take his time to find the right situation.
- Mosley will win easily.
- No one in the US has picked up Lee vs. Saunders yet, but thinks someone will.
- Broner vs. Allakhverdiev is a weak fight.
- More beers will be sold at LSC-Mares than PPV buys of Mosley-Mayorga.
- Mayweather is still the 154 lb champion because the organizing bodies are corrupt and do not follow their own rules.
- PBC is proving that you don't need to pay (HBO/Showtime - particularily Showtime) to get quality fights.
- Believes SRL beats Floyd.
- Listed in order of his interest: Canelo-Cotto, GGG-Lemieux, LSC-Mares.
- Donaire vs. Quigg is not done, but a really good chance it gets made.
- Who would he like to see Rios fight next? Liked Brook and Bradley, but really wants Provodnikov.
- PBC does not care about PPV. They want maximum network exposure.
- No word on Lamont Peterson, but his saying around October in the DC area.
- Was surprised that Mayweather put a sparring session available to the public, but thought it was great and that Floyd looked great.
- If a promoter wins a purse bid they cannot force a title fight to be fought at a catch weight.
- Many forget that Khan was beating Garcia easily until he got KO'd. Would love to see a rematch. Garcia listens to Haymon's advice on how to manage his career.
