Lomachenko-Walters Showdown is Still Possible
Nicholas Walters lost his WBA featherweight title on the scales as he was unable to tip in at 126-pounds for his bout versus Miguel Marriaga. On Saturday evening he won a 12-rounder versus the Colombian and now the question is: what does this do for his potential match-up against WBO featherweight titlist, Vasyl Lomachenko? ''There had been a lot of talk of the two unifying their titles in the fall. The Lomachenko fight was never made so I don't know how you can say the fight is going to happen- it was never made in the first place'' pointed out Carl Moretti, V.P. of Boxing Operations for Top Rank after the night's action at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.''It's got to get made first to fall apart. Most likely Walters will now campaign at 130-pounds.But given they still may only be separated by one weight division and both are under the Top Rank banner, this match-up is still very possible. Moretti stated, Eventually, they'll fight each other''.
