and that was pretty quick.With SMS and Iron Mike out of the promotional game, I'm actually pretty disappointed.......
I figured it was just a matter of time. 50 would have been better off becoming a manager and staying away from the promoting side of it.
Huge blow for 50 Cent's boxing company SMS Promotions -- TMZ Sports has learned the rapper's company has just filed for bankruptcy.
50 started SMS Promotions back in 2012 ... and signed some pretty big names in the sport, including then-undefeated champion Yuriorkis Gamboa, James Kirkland and Olympic medalist Andre Dirrell.
But apparently, the boxing biz hasn't been as kind to 50 as it has been to others like his pal Floyd Mayweather ... because according to court docs obtained by TMZ Sports, the company filed for Chapter 11 on May 25th.
In court docs filed in Connecticut, SMS says it has between $100k and $500k in debts.
SMS just put on a fight in Connecticut on May 15th -- though it clearly wasn't enough to turn the company around.
Story developing ...

The New Kronk Gym opens
After countless stops and starts, the new Kronk has finally opened. The latest incarnation (#4) of the world renowned boxing gym had an official opening on Memorial Day amid folks in a celebratory mood made notable by Kronk’s most famous boxer, multiple champion Thomas Hearns.
Located in the basement of the Body of Christ International Church on Metteal, the west side gym is notably larger than the original on Junction and McGraw. The success of the original Kronk was singularly due neither to Hearns nor manager-trainer Emanuel Steward; rather, it was due to a combination of the two. One without the other would have meant obscurity for both, just as Joe Louis would have never made it out of Detroit had it not been for John Roxborough and the team he assembled.
The new Kronk has the blessing of Bishop Kenneth Tate (Body of Christ) and is located in a decidedly less “rough” neighborhood than the original Kronk. Since Kronk #3 (about ten blocks south of the present gym) closed shortly after Emanuel Steward’s death 2 1/2 years ago, the amateur boxing team has all but expired, and hasn’t fielded a single boxer in the last two local Golden Gloves competitions. Milton McCrory is hoping to change that.
McCrory, who came along in the second wave of Kronk professionals after Hearns, Hilmer Kenty and Mickey Goodwin, will be the head trainer. McCrory, by the way, wants it to be known that he is the first Detroit-born boxing champion. The former WBC welterweight champ also engaged in the first championship mandated by that organized by the BC in the U.S. to the present 12-round limit. Steward’s nephew, Javon “Sugar” Hill and Arthel “Bam” Lawhorn will assist McCrory as needed. Hill’s plate is sometimes full with the training of world-class pros in other cities, including lightheavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson of Canada, who still dons the Kronk red and gold.
Besides McCrory, former Kronk world champ Johnathan Banks was in attendance as well as many others, including Martha Reeves, who sang the National Anthem, Steward’s wife, Marie, his daughter, Sylvia, and WBC referee Frank Garza.
With SMS and Iron Mike out of the promotional game, I'm actually pretty disappointed.......

Since finally embracing twitter thanks in no small part to his son Conor – who is a promising amateur following in his father’s footsteps – British 160 & 168lb legend Nigel Benn has offered his opinion on the Calzaghe/Froch twitter war as part of his #askbenn sessions where he interacts with his fans and followers.
The former “Dark Destroyer” – now a committed Christian – is best remembered by fans old and new for his legendary fights with Michael Watson, Iran Barkley, Chris Eubank (x2), the injury plagued fights with Steve Collins – and tragically – the 1995 war with Gerald McClellan.
A fight that for many – is the best they have ever seen involving a British fighter. Yet among the most tragic seen in a boxing ring anywhere in terms of the outcome.
Yet following the banter between former undefeated 168lb legend & hall of famer Calzaghe and ‘The Cobra’ – a twitter user named @lukeymcc7 asked Benn the following question;
“@NigelGBenn as a respected figure in the sport, who wins out of @RealJoeCalzaghe and @Carl_Froch and how?”
Benn’s reply was simple;
“@RealJoeCalzaghe wins hands down #askbenn #boxing”
I’m not sure there are many who could honestly disagree with him!

Breh, you havent made any argument FOR Froch. You just said he was better.......and that means nothing
I broke down your reply disrespecting the undefeated Euro King Joe C, step by step, and you had no rebuttal. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo, with that being said......
