Dan Rafael chat wrap 5/8:

Mayweather - Pacquiao:
- Not alerting the commission in time regarding his injury was bad form by Pacquiao and his team.
- Even if his shoulder was healthy, does not think Pacquiao beats Mayweather.
- A lot of people find Floyd boring to watch. People probably thought Pernell was more boring. But he likes watching Mayweather.
- Floyd on offering and rescinding the rematch offer? He was annoyed and the injury be blamed for the loss, so he rescinded his offer. With the money on the table he believes Floyd would change his mind again if he wanted.
- Does not care what casual fans think. The fight was easy to score. Casuals should adapt to the hardcore fans, not the other way around.
- Incredible tension in the arena right as Bayless had the fighters together getting ready to let them fight. His favorite moments in sports is right before the bell rings.
- Does not believe Floyd retires after a September fight.
- Freddie Roach was a poor sport after the loss.
- Thoughts on Evander Holyfield's scorecard? Better fighter than a judge.
- The burden of the fight fell on Manny. Floyd did what he always does. If Manny wanted to change that, it was up to him.
- Bayless did a great job refereeing. He is the best in the sport.
- Believes Floyd will give up his belts and let others have a chance to get them.
- Would he prefer Floyd vs. Khan, Garcia, or Thurman in September? Thurman.
- Kellerman did a great job interviewing Manny after the fight.
- Was that Mayweather's best performance? Still believes it was vs. Corrales.
- Thought the covered both sides (good/bad) of the fighters appropriately.
- Believes GGG would beat Floyd.
- Arum told him that the Dish numbers by themselves are over 2 million buys are near the all time record. Once you add in cable, they are expecting over 4 million buys.
- No matter what the PPV numbers are, believes they would have been higher had they had more time to promote.
- It is brilliant, epic, and legendary that Pacquiao didn't want to be tested with needles and now wanted a shot the day of the fight.
- The atmosphere of the event was good, but not an all-timer. The weigh-in was the greatest weigh-in ever.

The rest of boxing:
- GGG vs. Froch later this year? Tends to doubt it.
- Believes that both promoters want one more fight for each guy before they consider making Crawford-Matthysse.
- Saturday's card is ridiculous. There are 16 fights and it starts at 11 am.
- Cotto's best performance? Mosley.
- Alvarez vs. Kirkland? Alvarez by decision. Kirkland has a chance with his power and aggression.
- Ref for Alvarez-Kirkland will be Jon Shorle.
- Saw Kirkland yesterday and he looked fit and confident.
- Canelo vs. Cotto, over/under 1 million PPV buys? Under.
- Does not think Cotto will ever fight GGG. Believes Canelo will, but not until the end of next year.
- If Khan beats Algieri, would be interested in Khan fighting Mayweather, Pacquiao, or Brook.
- If Cotto and Canelo both win their next fights, there will be a Cotto vs. Canelo PPV on HBO this fall. Location TBD. Could be in Vegas, Texas, NY, or LA.
- If Floyd fights in September, then Cotto-Canelo probably takes place in Oct. or Nov.
- It is a big "IF", if anything comes out of GB's lawsuit vs. PBC. If there is something, it could take years. Was not surprised the lawsuit was filed and it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Will have a large impact in boxing.
- Cautiously optimistic Lomachenko-Walters could happen. Top Rank says they want it. HBO wants it.
- Walters next opponent likely to be Miguel Marriaga.
- Pick for Gomez vs. Soto? Gomez, but there is some concern. Gomez blew off the press conference and GB is upset. Rumors he is overweight.
- Thinks Bradley vs. Vargas at StubHub is a solid fight.
- No chance we see Floyd vs. Danny Garcia in Sept. in Brooklyn.
- Best fight he has ever covered and seen: Corrales-Castillo.
- The people who complained about Mayweather-Pacquiao not having enough action, probably won't watch Alvarez-Kirkland, or GGG's next fight.
- FNF tonight? Monsour by crushing KO.
- Over 30k expected to watch Alvarez-Kirkland in person.
- Believes there will be a US broadcast of Lemieux-N'Dam, it just has not been announced.
- Lomachenko is a great boxer who is fun to watch.
- Molina is not officially the opponent for Wilder yet. His chances of winning would be slim to none.
- Spoke with Bernard Hopkins recently and he is getting used to the idea of not fighting and enjoying commentating/promoting. He may be done.
- Kovalev-Mohammedi fight is done. July 18th at Mandalay Bay.
- Malignaggi's next opponent O'Conner? Has less power than Paulie.
- Judah said he will fight next month.
- Fury vs. Wlad? A pretty easy win for Wlad.
- Klimov vs. Pedraza is a done deal. Purse bid cancelled.
