For Kathy Duva's sake, they better:demonic:

If it goes to purse bid, like Dirrell/DeGale did, Haymon is gonna outbid her and Kovalev will be fighting on PBC:banderas:
This could be interesting as it will be one of the first major fights with a mandatory order that crosses adversarial promotional/television lines.
So far Haymon and HBO have done everything possible to not work together (Quillin giving up belt), except for Floyd/Manny - which feels like a special "one off" because of the magnitude and money.

But I doubt either Stevenson or Kovalev will want to give up their belts.
Still feels like someone will find a way to make this fight not happen.

The 1st one, even though it wasnt a "major" fight (though it was a big one for us die hards) was Loma vs GRJ. Of course, Haymon won that purse bid as well and Loma had to fight on Showtime. I expect him to keep over paying purse bids in order to force the "rivals" to fight on his platform of choosing.

Thing is though, purse bids are at a 75/25 split for the winner of the purse bid, so will Kovalev/Main Event/Kathy Duva be willing to accept 25% of the purse while :cape: takes home 75% of the pot?:ohhh:

And I also agree with you about someone finding a way to not make this fight happen. Im guessing it will be Kovalev's side, because they are proponents of VADA drug testing as well and even though they fought Pascal with no drug testing, I can see them using the excuse of "Vada or no fight"...being that Haymon fighters dont use VADA...in order to get out of the fight after they lose the purse bid:snoop:

I forgot about GRJ/Lomachenko. This fight might have to go to purse bid, Dan is saying in his chat that word from most people is they don't believe Stevenson actually wants the fight. That would lean towards it not being settled in promoter negotiations. In that case for a purse bid, Haymon has more money and Stevenson is the bigger draw using Montreal for the fight location...even though the purse should really be 50/50.

if kovalev gets on PBC a mainstream star will be born if he wins in brutal fashion and collects that wbc belt

Dan Rafael chat wrap 3/20:

Mayweather-Pacquiao:
- Does not agree with RJJ in that the only way Mayweather can beat Manny is to stop him.
- Ellerbe says there will be an announcement about tickets next week.
- His understanding is that if there is a failed drug test the Nevada commission will have an expedited hearing and call off the fight almost immediately. Then there would be a punishment hearing with a large fine and suspension.
- If a drug test is failed, the fighters negotiating a settlement between each other has no affect on if the commission cancels the fight.
- If Koncz wanted a drug penalty, he should have negotiated it into the original contract.
- Both fighters have been drug tested at least twice so far.

The Rest of Boxing:
- Ever since MGM bought Mandalay Bay there are less fights there. MGM prefers to have them at the MGM. He liked Mandalay Bay and wishes more cards were held there.
- Roman Gonzalez' promoter Teiken (run by Mr. Honda) is one of the most well liked and respected people in boxing. He has good relationships with just about everyone...hence why K2 wanted Gonzalez on GGG's next card.
- Thought that the broadcast of Spike was fine. NBC still has too many announcers.
- People who he talked to said they will believe that Stevenson is serious about facing Kovalev when he is actually standing across from him in the ring.
- Thought Freitas looked good in his comeback fight at 154. That said, it was one fight, has no idea what he actually has to offer.
- Imagines that GB will look at a title fight or title eliminator for Francisco Vargas.
- TR is trying to figure out what is next for Tim Bradley. To him the logical next fight is vs. Rios or the Matthysse-Provodnikov winner.
- Broner's next fight could end up in the Barclay's Center, not Cincinnati. No opponents yet.
- Constantly tells HBO he loves their old music on the telecast and wishes they would bring it back.
- Thought Pascal's stock stayed the same after the Kovalev fight.
- Thought the Pascal stoppage was perfect.
- Expects Lomachenko to thouroughly outclass Rodriguez.
- Winner of Kamegai-Gomez probably earns themselves another notable fight.
- A good chance Cotto-Canelo happens in the Fall (assuming they both win fights before that).
- Barthelemy will be on a Haymon card TBA.
- Has not heard of any talks regarding Thurman-Porter being made. If it was it would be a great fight and relatively easy to make.
- HBO and Roc Nation are in talks regarding Ward's next fight and contract. One possibility is May 30 in Oakland. That is not too far away, so we will see if they can get it made.
- HBO told him they will not approve Oosthuizen.
- Expects PBC to give ESPN top level fights.
- Haymon's deal with ESPN is through July 2017 and scheduled for 24 shows. He is paying ESPN $16 million. Haymon has an option to buy 6 shows beyond his deal for 24.
- They are keeping Teddy and Joe as the broadcast team.
- FNF was a weekly show with 35 dates comprised of up and coming fighters. Haymon will show 1 fight a month with higher profile fighters.
- TR's deal with True TV is supposed to start with a May 1 card, but no details have been released. It was not a time buy, the network is paying TR a license fee.
- Wilder aiming for a June/July return. No names on opponents.
- ESPN show on April 30th could be Mickey Bey's mandatory vs. Shafikov.
- Cotto vs. K9 likely for June 6. Believes HBO is willing to accept this fight as part of a deal that assumes Cotto-Canelo happens in the Fall.
- Could see a Berto-Ortiz rematch being made. He would love to see it.
- Wlad's mandatories? Fury is first in line, Glazkov is his newest mandatory, so he is last in line.
- Biggest star in 3 years: Errol Spence, Frankie Gomez, Felix Verdejo, or Oscar Valez? Verdejo.
- Would he rather see: Thurman-Brook, or Thurman-Maidana? Thurman-Maidana.
- Looks at Antonio Margarito as a fraud (feels he cheated multiple times).
- Maidana's manager says he will fight late Summer.
- Mayorga is not a candidate to fight Ward.
- Would be interested in Kovalev-Pascal rematch if it made sense a couple fights from now.
- Rafael Marquez has a good shot to get in the BHOF.
- It is possible Kovalev's next fight could be in Russia, according to Kathy Duva.
- Does not think Rigo vs. LSC ever happens.
- Barrera vs. Israel Vazquez at 122? Barrera.
- He prefers to see Canelo-Cotto fight, then have the winner fight GGG.
