Dan Rafael chat wrap 1/9:
- With Ward's contract being bought by Roc Nation, no timeline for his next fight, but he would hope by April we will see him.
- The reason for the fallout in the Jennings-Klitschko fight is because Roc Nation bought GSP. Gary and K2 had a deal worked out, but now Roc Nation is making demands to change parts of the deal. Gary Shaw thinks it will get worked out, Bernd Boente was not as hopeful. If the fight is not made, expect to see Klitschko fight next in Europe, not NY.
- He believes Roc Nation is getting carried away if they change negotiation...GSP already had a deal and it should be honored. Roc Nation has zero leverage in this negotiation.
- Pedraza has multiple promoters, so it remains to be seen whether he goes to Roc Nation or stays with DiBella.
- His source on Mayweather-Pacquiao is confidential, but is involved at the highest level of discussions. It gave him more hope than he has had since the initial talks in 2009. Still will "believe it when I see it".
- If Mayweather-Pacquiao happens he still believes it takes place at the MGM.
- GB's exclusivity on the Barclay's Center has lapsed, so anyone can make a fight there.
- Showtime is working hard to make fights. They want: Garcia-Peterson, Mares-Santa Cruz.
- Thinks there could be something to the idea that Cotto is waiting to see if Mayweather-Pacquiao gets made.
- Dusty Hernandez Harrison is not a blue chip prospect, but is a hard worker and has some skills.
- Algieri trainer rumors - Ronnie Shields was called and he heard John David Jackson as well.
- Doubtful that Ward-GGG happens in 2015.
- Perez-Maicelo: Perez.
- New math: Jay Z (Roc Nation) + Al Haymon = No fight.
- Roc Nation says they will work with anyone to make a fight. (Haymon won't).
- Funniest thing ever been said to him: Gary Shaw told him Kimbo Slice would become Heavyweight Champion.
- Klitschko wants the WBC belt very badly.
- Bigger star in 2015, Crawford or Thurman: Crawford.
- Crawford could be in the top 10 PFP if he gets the right fights.
- Good chance Povetkin-Perez could happen.
- Better jab, Holmes or Foreman: Holmes.
- Has Al Haymon ever taken a prospect and groomed him into a star? No.
- Hank Lundy is a throwback fighter. He will fight anyone, anywhere and put in a good effort.
- Mike Tyson is out of IMP, the company is no more.
- Lomachenko's hand was not broken or seriously hurt. Doctor's said he suffered a bruise and to rest it for 30 days. He has been training (avoiding using injured hand) and should be back in the ring around April.
- Does not think we see Khan vs. Brook or Bradley vs. Brook this year.
- Rigo signing to Roc Nation could still be a possibility.
