am I the only one looking forward to Broner's next fight because he's fighting a black fighter in Taylor?

Schaffer leaving GB was one of the worst things that could have happened to the fans. Dude was putting on competitive fights & stacking the cards. Oscar is scared of the risky fights.

I still don't think this string of ho-hum fights is Oscar's doing.
He allowed his cash cow to take a dangerous yet commercially unappealing fight against Erislandy Lara yet he is protecting dudes who he doesn't even have under contract to GBP?
Nah, Allah Haymon is responsible for this bullshyt we have been getting lately.

Yep.

It was noted that Adrien Broner picked and wanted to fight Marcos Maidana.....against his management's wishes.

Swift didn't have to fight Salka at all.....Haymon works for HIM, not the other way around.

yall nikkaz obviously dont know how shyt works. yes, Haymon works for him, but the boxers do NOT make FINAL decisions. they can stand their ground...but ultimately, they will risk tainting a relationship with their handlers. If Broner went against management wishes...which I dont doubt he did, now you know they tellin him to fall the fukk back and let us do this shyt. you worry about the fighting nikka. cuz  with Maidana

you cant be an un-workable nikka in boxing. Swift couldve refused Salka, yes. But u nikkas take shyt for face value. if he does that then he starts gaining the perception from people around him that he is un-managable and dont want to listen. Of course a fighter has some say-so, they are the ones fighting...but at the end of the day they dont call the shots because they dont know the business side. this is why Floyd lets his team do the work. so in that instance you are correct...Haymon works for Floyd...but if Floyd go around picking who he want to fight then why the fukk is he paying Haymon? come on breh, think.

I didn't say he did or didn't... but you got nikkas acting like Garcia didn't chose to fight dude and wanted to fight someone else instead.. like it was all Brother Al idea, and Swift had no control over his opponent and is forced to follow Als guidance :stopitslime: :camby: fighting Salka aint doing shyt for your career but then he makes that dumb ass statement about fighting IBF 140 champ Lamont Peterson..

:dead: at u nikkas thinkin 20 something year old fighters who dont know shyt about the business of boxing are picking their own fights. mostly every boxer out there has had an opponent they wanted to fight but got vetoed by their handlers. the fighters job is to fight whoever their team puts in front of them. they can suggest, even demand who they want to fight....but unless you are a mega star like Floyd, Oscar, SRL, on that level, you aint picking your fights like that. and Manny? he fights who the fukk Bob says he is gonna fight.

not sure what statement you are talking about as far as Peterson, but the one I heard was absolutely valid. I am not saying he shouldnt fight Peterson....not saying its not a decent win on his resume either. But whats the point? Its undeniable who the best JWW is. Peterson had his chance. Matthysse had his. This would be a different story if Peterson wouldve beaten someone that Swift lost to but when you look at the common opponents....look at how each of them fared.

Yet he accepted that fight with no protest while trying to play stupid like he didnt know :comeon: we really gonna act like he couldn't reject that fight for better competition.

At least my nikka Wilder kept it real admitted from jump the fight would be bullshyt and was just a stay busy fight

Salka was a bullshyt opponent. You wont hear me argue otherwise. But who is this better opponent he was going to fight? See, I used to be like you nikkas years ago until I learned the business side. shyt dont play like that homie. If your manager gets you a date on a network.....what you gonna do? Turn it down? You gonna turn down a showcase? You gonna turn down a pay check when any fight can be your last? Look at nikkas like David Reid. Where he at now? He aint got no money. You cant go around turning down fights and you must find the best opponent possible to fill that date. Thats with ALL things considered...because I know you are gonna say bu...bu...Salka wasnt the best opponent. Well, take into consideration that you have to find an opponent who is willing to fight on a particular date for said amount of money.

Swift is in a lil better position now than a nikka fighting on ESPN. Where you have dudes cancel 24 hours before the fight because they girlfriend broke up with them or some shyt, then the promoter has to send a Greyhound ticket to some nikka in West Bubblefukk to travel across 3 states just to show up an hour before fight time. Obviously this dude didnt get training expenses or time to train even.

That may seem like extreme scenarios, but this boxing business is VICIOUS. So why would Swift be turning down any fights when he knows how hard it was/is to get to the point he is now?

Al Haymon works for his clients yes. And his job is to get him the best paydays regardless of the opponents. His fighters aren't gonna say no to that just because the fighters are bums. Look at Guerrero, dude made a milly fighting Taka Michonoku.

Brother Al's clients ain't gonna complain about his methods, because it's great for them. The only losers in this equation is us the fans

lets not make this solely about Haymon though. this is ANY promoter/manager/advisor. and nikkas dont realize this....

your advisor may not agree with your manager. your manager may not agree with your promoter. Your promoter may not agree with your network. and this is all going on for a single fight. the fighter dont have time to get involved in that shyt...he too busy training NOT to lose! I used to think shyt was simple like that...but it aint. Boxing business is one of the most complex businesses in sports period.

you just dont go around turning down fights. and its not a good practice to go against the judgement of your management/advisory/promotion. thats not to say they arent wrong because I think he team was in this instance. but if you dont like it, then WTF are you paying them for?

I actually don't criticize Haymon as much as most people these days do. Like I said before, his methods are terrible for the fans, but great for his clients. But at the end of the days, his clients are the only ones he has to answer to, not us. It's his job as an advisor to maximize his fighters earning profits. If anything, I gotta give him some props for that. Boxing has historically been a sport where it's athletes have been ripped off and fukked over countless amount of times.

If anybody should be held accountable for this bullshyt, it's the networks for giving the ok to air these bullshyt fights. Espinoza is Haymon's bytch, and we should all hope he gets axed sometime in the near future

Its not all on Haymon. The politics of boxing, or any sport for that matter allow this type of maneuverability. nikkas will get in where they fit in if you will. and there is always a way in. Haymon reminds me a lot of Don King. he is very meticulous. that can be good for a fighter when things are good and terrible when they are not. The difference is, he hasnt shelved fighters for as long a period of time as Don had been known to do. he somehow gets them all work. and pretty good work.

remember when BHop fought Hakkar? he very well couldve turned that fight down. he said so himself. instead, he fought on a terrible HBO telecast in his hometown and didnt fill half the arena against a guy you havent heard from since. BHop said...."I am not in the business of giving up belts". Salka was not Swift's mando, but the principle is the same. You take the fight and maintain your foothold. You dont go around giving up belts or turning down fights because your team put a scrub in front of you. Plus, my general rule of thumb is.....if the network approves it, then there would be absolutely no reason in hell for a fighter to turn it down. as many times as networks wont approve fights? HBO used to turn down every Shane Mosley opponent for a good stretch but approve them for other guys...like Oscar. Berto got rich fighting bums thanks to Haymon. Mosley wouldve been a great Haymon fighter at his peak. Likely a much bigger star than he turned out to be.

I don't shyt on GGG though. He's a casualty of the network wars, plus people in his division (*cough Cotto*) don't want anything to do with him.

It's unfortunate he's been fighting the Bull Buchanons and Balls Mahoneys of the world, but there's not much he can do about that. It's not on him :manny:

and you cant blame him. or Kovalev. or anyone else being hyped for that matter. GGG aint shyt in my book....but he aint around here talmbout I'mma fight this dude but not that one. he fighting who his team get for him and HBO approve. no way I can hate on that man for gettin that bread.

The rest of swiftset sure as fukk did :sas1:

As soon as the Geale fight was mentioned I stopped shytting on him because that was a legit opponent. I just find it funny that now all of a sudden nikkas want to switch blame to promoters when Danny is involved.

I will still shyt on GGG...but only because of hype, not because of his opponents. Geale was no different than anybody else. There is a difference between legit opponent and a threat. I didnt have to watch that telecast to know Geale was gonna get KTFO. same with Rubio. :comeon:

however, I have never shyt on GGG for his opponents as if he was picking them shyts. thats his teams doing at the network's approval. Kovalev same thing. You think Kovalev knew who the fukk Agnew was before he fought him? like "yeah, thats the nikka I want right there....." :mjlol:

To do the job of a manager and hammer out the best monetary deal possible for his client regardless of who he is fighting? That seems to be the most paramount responsibility of a manager instead of picking and choosing just who I am going to fight even against my expressed desires. Especially at the level of a Floyd and even a step below where Broner and Swift are right now.
Where Haymon is perceived as overstepping is that he is not doing the job of a manager but instead seems to be doing the job of a matchmaker and actually putting together fight cards usually made up of his clients fighting one another.

The fukk you mean, who was the better opponent??:what: how bout the 967 nikkas ranked ahead of him coming from lightweight.. and all 967 of them nikkas would've killed to be in Salka's place that night for any amount of money to get a title shot on Showtime.. Swift had options to fight anyone on that date and accepted Salka as his opponent because ot was a soft touch.. What would Al or the network have done if the Lineal Ring140 champ chose to fight someone other than Salka?? Not a damn thing
