Whenever the Ghost is in a competitive fight where he's getting his head snapped back constantly, announcers and some fans wanna call that shyt a FOTY candidate. The same shyt they did with the Berto scrap, they doing with the Ippo fight.
That shyt was no FOTY candidate. It was a good scrap that was entertaining, but that's about it. So far 2014 has had some great rounds of the years and great knockouts of the year, but we still haven't had a real FOTY candidate show up. Molina/Matthysse is the closest one, but I think Molina needed to be slightly more competitive than what he was in order to really call it a FOTY.
A FOTY candidate usually has to have...
-nikkas getting hurt
-at least 1 or 2 knockdowns.
-at least 3 momentum changes
-and at least 2 dramatic
type moments.
Usually the end of the fight have you on some

i thought molina was competitive enough...i expected lucas to knock him out in the first 2 rounds and i was legitimately disturbed and alarmed that molina was able to score those KD's and also hurt and wobble him enough times

Molina was competitive enough to make Matthysse look overrated and bad on that night. We all thought Lucas was going to KO dude maybe 5 rds tops. It's just that Molina wasn't competitive enough for it to be a true FOTY. Dude won 3 rounds at best and was taking a beating in the last few rounds before it was over.
That's the only point I'm really trying to make.

This is why there are levels in boxing. You'll hear cats constantly shyt on Tito about being one dimensional and having problems with good boxers, but dude only struggled and loss to elite level boxers that were his size or naturally bigger. Now nikkas will call Trinidad overrated though.
On the other hand Lucas loses or struggles against decent or good boxers and cats wanna deny that he's overrated or at least not as good as he's touted to be.
You got one dude losing to guys at the top of the food chain and the other guy is losing to guys a notch below the top of the food chain, but fans always throw them in the same group.
