this is good news...im sick of the interim, super champion bullshyt..its the reason why a fighter like robert guerrero is talked about being a 6 time champion (which he's not) ..when he was just a beltholder in 2 divisions..1 champion, 1 weight class per sanctioning body...simple concept like how it used to be

I don't want to be pessimistic but they will probably keep all of those other belts and just add the unified belt so that they can get sanctioning fees paid to all three governing bodies off of yet another title.

Aug 9, Porter-Brook is off (should appear on a date TBD). Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson is on...but not against each other.
Topping the show will be junior welterweight champ Danny Garcia (28-0, 16 KOs) with junior welterweight titlist Lamont Peterson (32-2-1, 16 KOs) defending on the undercard.
Neither has an opponent yet, but Golden Boy's intention, if they both win, is to match them later in the year to unify their titles. That means Garcia, who talked about a move to welterweight following his tough decision win against Mauricio Herrera on March 15, probably will remain at 140 pounds for at least two more fights before moving up next year.

Why wait? Just match Garcia and Peterson up and stop wasting time. It's not like anyone will be more excited to see Lamont Peterson fight based off of whatever he does on 8/9 against a soft opponent.

On Cotto's next opponent:
Arum said that Cotto would likely return in December -- again on HBO PPV -- at Madison Square Garden.
"We're thinking about the possibility of making Cotto and (Timothy) Bradley," Arum said.
"We're talking but we'd have to work (the weight) out. We haven't gotten that far yet."

Arum talking that bullshyt about too many PPVs and they need to be reserved for big time fights then he comes with this nonsense. Bum Ass Bradley is not PPV worthy. That shyt is going to do horrible business because no one cares enough about shytty Tim Bradley to pay to see him fight.
