I lit something up and rewatched Maidana/Alexander the other night for the first time since it happened a couple years ago. During the 1st half it was competitive, but after like the 5th or 6th round Devon really took over and was rocking him all over the ring. Even dropped his ass, but the ref blew the call. People always bytched about the clinching, but I think it's because Lederman brought it up. Alexander did clinch at times, but some of it was because Chino would rush in with his head all crazy and dude wasn't trying to catch another Bradley headbutt.

I know Maidana has improved a bit since then, but he still got dominated badly to the point where I just can't envision him troubling Floyd outside of a few good shots here and there. I don't think he needs to be all that heavy either. His best bet is to not come in too heavy on fight night so he can have some more speed.

BRADLEY OFFERS 'NO EXCUSES'

Bradley said that he went for the knockout believing that was his only chance to win. As a result, he chose to fight toe-to-toe, abandoning what he perhaps does better, which is box and move, in order to pursue the unlikely knockout.

Both Pacquiao and his trainer, Freddie Roach, acknowledged that Bradley had hurt Pacquiao in the fourth round.

Bradley, for his part, offered no excuses, even as he limped into the post-fight press conference after having apparently suffered a strained right calf muscle as early as the first round.

"That's the only way that I was going to win the fight … I knew that the rounds would be close. Pacquiao's very experienced. He knows how to land punches, and if I don't knock this guy out, I knew that there would be too many close rounds," said Bradley.

"So I was just shooting for it and going for the knockout, just like I told everybody that I would. I tried to go for it, man. He said that I hurt him in the fourth round, with a big shot over the top. I tried to finish him, but he's really experienced in the ring. He's in tremendous shape, and he recovered just like that. He got his distance and recovered and was firing right back."

Pacquiao had an overall advantage in punches landed (198-to-141), and power shots landed (148-to-109), according to CompuBox.

"I have no excuses tonight. Pacquiao was the better man tonight. The dude still has it," said Bradley, who fought with limited mobility during their first fight after having injured his left and then right foot in the second and fourth rounds, respectively.

"The reason I love Pacquiao is that he doesn't duck his opponents. He's always willing to face the best. He faced one of the best tonight, and he came out on top. So Manny Pacquiao is a true champion. He's an unbelievable champion. I have nothing but respect for him and his team. I accept defeat like a man."

As for what he will do next?

"I lost tonight, but the war is not over. Time to go back to the gym. Time to go back to the gym and get better. This just means that I need more work. I will become champion again."

Bu-bu-bu-but Bradley LET and ALLOWED Manny to win:to:

I know Bradley threw the fight:sadcam:

Tim Bradley doesnt fight like that, I know @Newzz, @patscorpio, @LauderdaleBoss, @ChocolateGiddyUp, and @krackdagawd asked me "that since when do fighters start swinging for the fences in matches they are looking to take a dive in?", but I dont care. The fix was in. I swear it was. Arum paid him under the table and Floyd told him to take it easy on Manny:to:

62 years ago today Sugar Ray Robinson koed Graziano in 3 rounds

The GOAT:blessed:

I hate when people try and dismiss SRR like "that was a different time period":rudy:

No, Boxing is one of the only sports where you can see the same things from fights in the 1940's that you can see in fights of 2014. There arent any new ways to throw a jab/hook/uppercut/body shot/etc, to defend, to clinch, footwork, power, speed, ring generalship, pressure fight, throw combinations. All of it's the same. The only difference is the training methods, drug tests, the luxury of NOT having to work a regular job while still being an active fighter (at least for the top fighters of today), and the rounds.

Only a fool would say that SRR, who stood 5'11 with a 73" reach and fought as low as Lightweight and as high as Light Heavyweight, shouldnt be brought up because we didnt see him with our own eyes back in the 40s thru 60s, when you can easily catch fights of his on the great invention called Youtube.com:camby:

If ANYTHING, the fighters from yesteryear who are ATGs and had to fought sometimes 12 fights in 1 single year would be even better TODAY than they were then. Taking punishment in 1 fight, only to fight 2-3 more times that same month?:what:

It seems like in order for some boxers or fans to really respect Manny's skills, he has to personally kick your ass. Before they fight him it's all.....

Manny ain't wake up yet. :heh:

This little guy can't hurt me. :childplease:

He has no jab or boxing skills. He just runs in and throws a bunch of punches. :obama:

Once they see the handspeed right in front of them it's..:ooh:

Then they catch the 1st hard fade it's...:damn:

After the fight its. :sadbron::snoop: "Manny still got it." "He's one of the best fighters in the world."

What is Bradley supposed to do say I dived and layed off of Manny, because of a potential rematch..............

It didnt happen:manny:

You dont try and 1 punch KO your opponent if you're supposed to take a dive. You just take your foot off the gas and let them dominate you. Or even YOU drop to the mat and act as if you're down.

You cant tell me Manny didnt connect with some good shots on Bradley, and if a dive was to take place, that Bradley couldnt have went down.

Bradley just lost the fight:manny:

And this fight was actually closer than the 1st one.

Bradley trying to one punch ko anyone is as comical as Paulie Malinaggi shooting for a KO if not worse, not to mention those were wild wide slow slaps, that any bum on the street could see coming let alone a elite level Manny Pacquaio, why wasn't Timmy throwing 1 and 2 shots in the early rounds y.......He hurt Manny lifted him off his feet, and stop what earned him that shot, inexplicably

Act like the commentators and all aint say that Manny is ready to go, and watch as Bradley backs off when the whole world saw he had Manny's head on a platter as long as he kept working........................

Great post. The whole point of stanning a fighter is to start from the beginning and hope they make it to the top. You don't start at the top.

Gennady is a beast...didn't he have a passing in his family recently that halted training?

ESPN been out of the game so long that they didnt even check the Povetkin fight?

This isnt a good look tbh the casuals will turn off quick when Wlad starts his bullshyt

Wlad isn't the first fight you show someone that's a casual trying to get into boxing.

ESPN with the rookie mistakes. :snoop:[DOUBLEPOST=1397672560][/DOUBLEPOST]
