This to me is like when Richard Steele stopped the Mancini/Chacon fight (which was a terrible stoppage).

Angulo could have continued, and so the fight should have as well. How bad he was losing is irrelevant. It's not the ref's job to keep score or decide who's going to win/lose.

exactly. it doesnt matter how badly angulo was losing on points. angulo was still trying to win that fight and the ref took that away from him which is not the job of a referee to do. everybody saying this was good stoppage because he was losing doesnt understand what a stoppage is supposed to be about.

he wasnt just losing, he was getting beat down. its a ref's job to protect the fighters from too much punishment. i think weeks shouldve waited until the round was over, and im sure there wouldnt have been one person complaining if he stopped it in between rounds.

weeks jumped in as soon as the punch landed which doesnt make any sense. he didnt wait at all to see how angulo would take the shot like a referee normally would, because if he had, he would have seen right away that angulo was not really hurt. he didnt wait to see how angulo would react to the punch, whether or not he was hurt or could continue, because he wanted to stop the fight regardless lets be honest about that.

yeah i agree, thats why he shouldve waited until after the round, or if angulo got wobbled at some point in that round.

Canelo looked good but showtime was heavy on his dikk angulo was starting to affect canelo since round 6. Surprised at the stoppage, that was disappointing.

He wasnt trying to win,he was just trying not to look soft. Once Canelo laid that early power on him,he wanted no real problems and was throwing weak ass punches, looking extra shook.
