Roy Jones Jr. vs. Bobby Gunn in Play For December

Hackensack, NJ – Former IBA, WBC USNBC and WBA NABA cruiserweight titlist Bobby “The Celtic Warrior” Gunn will have a career defining opportunity when he meets former pound for pound king Roy Jones Jr. in December in Pennsylvania.

Gunn, who sports a professional ledger of 21-5-1 with 18 wins by knockout, fought James Toney and Tomasz Adamek in his last two bouts but came up short both times. A legendary bare knuckle boxer whose bouts have been viewed more than 600,000 times on YouTube, Gunn also won other cruiserweight belts and was rated in the top 10 by the WBA and WBC. The heavy-handed New Jersey based Canadian was on the verge of retiring but had interest in fighting Jones Jr. for a number of years.

“I’ve wanted a match up with Roy for quite some time but it never worked out for a number of reasons,” stated Gunn. "We’ve been working on this for awhile and I wasn’t sure if it was ever going to happen but I’m glad it will. People can say what they want about Roy and I at this stage but this is an extremely important fight. The winner will take a huge step forward and the loser is at the end of the road.”

One of the greatest fighters in boxing history, Roy Jones Jr. is one of the few boxers of any era that truly doesn’t need an introduction. In 64 professional bouts, Jones Jr. is an outstanding 56-8 with 40 wins by way of knockout. The former middleweight, undisputed light heavyweight and heavyweight titleholder has wins over boxing greats Bernard Hopkins, Felix Trinidad, the aforementioned Toney and Hall of Famer Virgil Hill amongst others. In his most recent bout, Jones Jr. traveled to Poland and topped unbeaten hometown favorite Pawel Glazewski.

Jones Jr.-Gunn is scheduled for 12 rounds in the cruiserweight division. The card is promoted by Jones Jr’s Square Ring Promotions and the exact date and location along with undercard bouts will be announced shortly.

Debate boxing, have no argument back for what was posted, so claim u didn't read it brehs:ohlawd:

#BandCamp

:umad:

I got an argument...but its not really an argument. More of an opinion that some of you need to take heed to. The sport is dying because of imbalance. Its not just boxing, but everything. The greed for money squeezes out integrity.

115-113 for Broner was the right score. If you say 116-112 :ehh: but anybody going beyond that has another agenda. It proves that the less popular fighter wont get a fair shake. Paulie is a boxer and the standard is set incredibly high for what he has to do to win against a guy with the hype and backing of AB. As far as that harder punch shyt...there is some validity to in but in most cases it gets overblown. Its subjective as hell when you talk about how somebody's face looks after a fight. That doesnt always tell the winner or the loser. Its the same shyt when people tried to justify Oscar's win over Pernell. Oh he was throwing pitty pat and such and such landed the harder punches. In recent history, I remember when Cory Spinks boxed the shyt outta Jermain Taylor and everybody was saying the judges werent giving Spinks enough credit for the boxing he was doing. Only harping on the fact that Taylor landed the harder shots. If Spinks wasnt hurt it matters a damn.

Judges even though some of them are ancient as hell, they go with what is trendy too. They dont pay no attention to that 4 criteria shyt...so whats the point of even having it? They get stuck in this mold about somebody landing harder punches. I can see that if the person is wobbling or shaking. Look at the gifs you posted. Paulie was rolling with a lot of those shots. Like @Skip b said....you posted a bunch of gifs but it doesnt tell the story of the fight. He landed some good shots...but this was no domination and it was no 117-111 either.

My rant is mainly about the integrity of the sport. Again, I have no prob with AB but people take shyt too far to try and propagate the next big thing. As far as Rafael...nothing he says holds any weight to me. He is a fat fukkin gluck who has no originality or balls. He never goes against the grain. the shyt you posted probably was somebody elses opinion of the fight that he jacked. He is the least knowledgeable person in the boxing media that I have ever known to be in such a advantageous position. Rafael is never gonna be a person of integrity because he knows where his bread is buttered. He always picks the favorite then he finds somebody else's score to hijack and post it like he really knows what the fukk he is talking about. Rafael is the last name anyone should mention if we are talking about boxing knowledge. He's a jockey with an ESPN job, nothing more.

Again, I dont bash AB, just calling it like I see it. You just seem to focus on the fact that I said I would pick Crawford to beat him and you cant see that because one has better opposition on his resume. I dont dispute that. Its all love for you and #bandcamp....all I am saying is....take JMM for example. He was in the same era as MAB and Morales...but when JMM was 27, some people (knowledgeable fans) used to say...he is better than both of them. People that dont know shyt about boxing like Fatboy would say JMM would lose to either of them at that time. He was in the same position. He couldve beaten either of them but they wouldnt face him because he had no name. Now he has arguably had the better career out of all of them. He certainly has grossed more.

Its ok to be a fan, but if you love the sport....we should at least try and uphold some standards of integrity. As fans...we are probably the only ones still willing to do so.

thats all..

Here's my problem with the whole Broner vs Crawford...you the first person to call a fighter a hype job N shyt on they resume...you done it with Canelo, Broner, N to an extent Bradley saying they protected N blah blah blah

Then you go N get behind HBOs newest guy they pushing....the nikkas best win is a flabby Prescott.... we know very little about Crawford vs quality opp yet you say he's this N that.... you shyt on those who has proved much much more against better opp but they are hype but your boy Crawford is somehow not:mindblown:

II respect your response breh:obama:

I've said that I had the fight 8 rounds to 4 for AB (116-112), and I've explained why at length. No, AB didnt go in and dominate Pauletta and I feel that since people expected him to "wipe the floor" with him, that they are acting as if Pauletta actually should've won. Perfect recent example of this was Floyd vs Cotto where because Cotto didnt get completely outclassed, people act as if Cotto deserves a rematch. To me, AB vs Paulie is the same thing to a lesser extent. I really feel that Pauletta is getting more credit than he deserves for not getting knocked out or thoroughly embarrassed in there while AB is being penalized for not destroying him in 7-8 rounds.

It's cool for you to say TC can beat AB breh....I be picking with you on that. Sort of like how I believe that AB would beat Pac, people get on me, because Broner's resume aint even a 1/3rd of Pacquiao's. It's good to root for the unknown fighter and watch him do what you said he was gonna do as he rises through the rankings. @ChocolateGiddyUp been with Danny since the beginning, of course I been here with Broner, the #MatthysseMafia seems to be in disarray at this point, but they was trying to ride into they ran into Swift:heh:

It's all love breh, we still homies.

I just look at it like that's his fighter:manny:

Everyone has a fighter that they like who aint done shyt, but we still hype em like they the next coming. To me, Crawford aint showed me anything and hasnt even fought a PDL level fighter where I can see what he can do.

He's no different than Gary Russell Jr imo and I'm waiting for TC to beat at LEAST 1 former top 5 ranked opponent before I pay any attention to him. I mean, so far out of his 22 opponents, 10 of them have had a losing record coming in to the fight already. That's about half his opponents.

Im just skeptical of him

no doubt...props to @ChocolateGiddyUp for the #swiftset movement. It just takes me a lil time before I co-sign...but when I see what I need to see...I'm wit it. I was never impressed with his wins over Morales and even though he showed grit against Khan...we know how dude's chin is. Each fight showed me something though. His power, his toughness, and against Zab I thought he put it all together with a lil boxing skill. Now I root for the dude. I think he is an example of what is good in the state of boxing.

despite what #matthyseemafia may think...I really like that dude too...I just dont put him in as high regard as Swift...but 140 has definitely kept boxing afloat this past year.
