Russell Jr.'s opponent named

Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer announced that highly touted featherweight Gary Russell Jr. would return on the Aug. 9 undercard to Deontay Wilder-Sergei Lyakhovich. The card takes place at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, Calif.

A source close to the situation told RingTV.com that the opponent will be durable and awkward Juan Ruiz of Santa Clarita, Calif.

Ruiz (23-11, 7 KOs) hasn't won since beating a faded Wayne McCullough five years ago. Over that stretch, he's been able to go the distance with Victor Terrazas, Vicente Escobedo, Jose Miguel Aguiniga, and Efrain Esquivias.

The “Gary Russell Jr. World Tune-Up Tour” will hopefully come to an end after the fight with Ruiz, as he has stated he'd like to challenge for a world title in his next fight.

Lundy put the beats on Ajose. Dude rocked him in just about every round. Hopefully Hank can keep this momentum going and not lose to another dude he' supposed to beat.

Somebody should have told Bey that Molina is dangerous for the whole fight including the last minute. nikka had that shyt in the bag and wasn't too bothered with his shots until he leaned forward into that hook he didn't see and that was all she wrote.

Lots of nikkas going back to the drawing board this year. :snoop:

Broner can outbox maidana for sure, but what happens when he gets hit with one of those hard rights? I don't think broner has felt power close to that before

Maidana would for sure be the hardest puncher AB has fought...but i think his power is overrated....he couldn't beat Khan, never hurt Devon, couldn't ko Morales

Plus he gets hurt a lot I can see Broner stopping him

Yeah, Malik should have known better. Just like when Manfredo let Calzaghe throw like a 30 punch combo uninterrupted while his back is against the ropes. :snoop:

I've never been impressed with Scott though. Dude is a capable boxer with good attributes, but he fights like he's just going through the motions and he never really tries to go hard and dictate the fight. He's content with doing barely enough to win. Some cats say he got robbed in his last fight, but I felt the fight was much closer and that he had nothing to complain about with that draw since he never really clearly put the fight in the bag.

I think Bryant Jennings is the only American Heavyweight worth his gym bag. He just seems more well rounded then all these other cats who have some glaring flaws/weaknesses like Mitchell and his Khan chin, Arreola and his fitness issues, Wilder and his poor ass technique, and Scott with his half reluctance to throw.

Likewise...and I am a fan of boxers, but if it looks as if it likes passion or if they are not looking like they are having fun in there....I dont fukk with it. I saw Scott a couple of times and was never interested in seeing him again. Dominic Guinn looked the same way in all of his losses. Like he was just there by circumstance.
