SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Matchroom Boxing and the Los Angeles-based gym Churchill Boxing Club announced a commercial partnership that allows the British-based promotional company to further expand its presence and reach in the United States by giving its stable of fighters a new home to train out of.

Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn and gym owner and film director Peter Berg announced the pact Monday during a ceremony at the gym, which was already co-branded to the Churchill x Matchroom Boxing Club.

“Our business continues to expand globally and we wanted to do something different. It was important for us to provide a stateside facility for our stable and our talent that we felt was trusted and elite,” said Hearn.

“Peter Berg has just as much passion for boxing as anyone I’ve met … He loves to see the top fighters in here and have the gym flourish, and now the very best fighters in the world will be in here. It’s an opportunity for our international fighters to have a home in America. It’s important to offer that to our fighters.”

Matchroom will also host media days and other events at the facility, Hearn said.

The likes of Canelo Alvarez, Gennadiy Golovkin, and Dmitry Bivol have all held camps at the gym throughout the years.

“Boxing needs responsible, quality, visionary leadership. I’ve said many times – Eddie is that leader. I’m proud of our gym that we can be in business with a man who is best suited to lead us and the future of the sport,” said Berg.

Berg is known for directing films like “Friday Night Lights” and “Patriots Day” as well as boxing-related projects throughout the years like HBO’s “On Freddie Roach” and “The Fight Game with Jim Lampley.”

The gym first opened in 2013 and was previously known as Wild Card West due to a partnership between Berg and Hall of Fame coach Freddie Roach.

“I hope this is the beginning of a calling to pro fighters all over the country,” said Berg. “If you’re looking for great training with a direct connection to the best promoter, we’re open for business – come on down.”

The Churchill x Matchroom Boxing Club is located at 1630 21st Street in Santa Monica, California.

Team Haney on Promotional Future: [Eddie Hearn] Always Puts Something on the Table, One of Those Deals You Just Don’t Want to Refuse

Man, listen, ‘Fast Eddie,’ with all that money, man, you know what I mean, it’s always going to be hard to not do business with him,” the elder Haney told iFL TV. “We’ll sit down after this. He always puts something on the table, one of those deals that you just don’t want to refuse. So, I don’t expect anything different"

Is fast Eddie really gonna turn the tables:lupe:.....that matchroom money starting to make fighters think different.

Exactly lmfao nikkas hate PBC so much they say stupid shyt like that. Boots is a fukking nobody. Eddie can't market in the USA for shyt, Devin's success from from himself not Eddie
And the turn on boots has officially begun:mjlol:.....but you don't realize by calling boots a nobody you're actually shytting on PBC. Since they're the ones who've been covering his fights to this point. If he's a "fukkin nobody" then doesn't that mean PBC has done a horrible job promoting him?:jbhmm:.....you just checkmated yourself:umad:

Nobody is turning on boots, being a generational talent doesn't mean you are a star, Boots is just now going to have the opportunity to take over 147 now that the Errol/Bud Saga is over (which literally held up Virgil Ortiz and Stanonius among the other 147 fighters out there.
Try again weirdo.

Both Virgil Ortiz and Boots had a chance to end the Bud/Spence saga when they had an opportunity to fight Bud but turned it down. Virgil on multiple occasions

They had their chance :manny:

Brolic... Alcoholics
Martin is a clever, awkward, left hander, he got robbed against Lopez, made him look like dogshyt in the process.

Boring fighter for casuals, but the type that is a complicated match up for any opponent.

I like him. Mainly because of how he embarrassed Mikey Garcia. But he legit had Lopez second guessing himself. I got Haney if this gets lined up but it would make for an interesting fight.

And this is good for Haney. Another style of fighter to add to the list of other styles he's already fought

I'm prior Navy and got to meet him when I was at Camp LeJeune with the Marines. Insanely nice guy.

But he lost me with the Trump shyt.
Right, I have no issues with his pro military, police stance (to a point), police driven community gyms are a big deal where I'm from, no qualms there (just not all police obviously.)

But yeah, Berg kept doubling down on the patriot tip to the point that he crossed the line. You can only go so far.

Agree 100.

I like him too, he's the type to make you remember that it doesn't always have to be about beating them down, flash or volume. Just reflexes, awkward mind games and anticipation.

Great for Haney, at this stage he has shown he destroys fighters that counter punch (Kambosos), fighters that can only punch, get out or brawl (Prograis), can outwork workers (Lomachenko), so on and so forth.

If he can dominate a complicated match up (Martin), then he can only get better when he jumps to Welterweight.
