Caleb Plant Believes His Skills Are Top 5 Pound For Pound

Pound-for-pound lists are getting a bit overstated nowadays. Everyone has one. And, more times than not, they vary to a certain degree. Caleb Plant, of course, has his own thoughts when it comes to those arbitrary rankings.
Being known as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet is important but Plant believes that there’s a lot that goes into it. Accolades are a heavy influencer. So is the level of competition that you ultimately face. But while he won’t deny most of the names that are on those lists, Plant would rather put together his own index of fighters centering around a different criteria.
Accomplishments are somewhat extraneous. Instead, Plant (22-2, 13 KOs) sifted through every division and carefully analyzed every fighter's attributes. After doing so, he believes that he’s put together the top five most skillful fighters in all of boxing.
“I think Terence Crawford has gotta be on the list,” Plant told Million Dollaz Worth of Game. “Canelo has gotta be on the list, Shakur’s gotta be on the list. I think Usyk has to probably be on the list.”
Several of you might be a bit bemused as to what you just read. Crawford, Canelo Alvarez, Shakur Stevenson, and Oleksandr Usyk are all top-of-the-line fighters but last time we checked, that number only amounts to four.
Plant is a smart man and one who likes to make things a bit dramatic. He thought long and hard before making his final selection. Naoya Inoue, the former undisputed and current unified champion was worthy of being selected. So was Gervonta Davis, Tyson Fury, and Dmitry Bivol. But while those aforementioned names are all deserving, Plant decided that he wasn’t in the mood to be humble.
“I gotta be on the list,” continued Plant. “I know my skills are crazy.”

i really dislike this clown..what ppl see or saw in this joker is beyond me :heh:

Tyson Fury: I Knocked Out Deontay Wilder; I’m The Biggest Puncher In Heavyweight Boxing

Countless reporters and videographers have asked Tyson Fury in recent months if he expects Francis Ngannou to hit harder than Deontay Wilder.
It is an obvious question because Ngannou’s vaunted power is the apparent selling point of this exhibition between boxing’s best heavyweight and a comparative novice. Fury feels the vast majority of the public has it twisted, though, because he believes he, not Wilder, has proven himself as the hardest puncher in the heavyweight division.
England’s Fury stopped Wilder in the seventh round of their rematch in February 2020, but he ended their third bout in much more emphatic fashion. The big Brit blasted Wilder with a right hand in the 11th round of their fan-friendly slugfest that knocked a battered, exhausted Wilder to his side, unable to continue in October 2021 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) floored Fury twice apiece in their first and third fights, but the former WBC champion commonly considered the most pulverizing puncher of this era couldn’t finish Fury in either fight. The undefeated Fury therefore took issue with Wilder’s reputation as their division’s hardest puncher during a recent joint interview he and Ngannou did with Carl Frampton for TNT Sports Boxing.
“I’m an aggressive knockout puncher now, for sure,” Fury said during a segment that was posted to TNT Sports’ boxing YouTube channel Friday. “People say that Deontay Wilder was the biggest puncher in heavyweight boxing, but I beat him. I knocked him out. So, I take that crown. I’m the biggest puncher in heavyweight boxing – me.”
The 35-year-old Fury also assured Ngannou that he will come to fight Saturday night, not to box and move his way to a decision win in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
“Straight out,” Fury said, “me and you in the middle. … Listen, we’ll have a fight. Don’t worry about that. That’s what we’re getting paid to do anyway, have a fight.”
Cameroon’s Ngannou isn’t sure whether to believe Fury, who will fight for the first time since he stopped England’s Dereck Chisora (34-13, 23 KOs) in the 10th round last December 3 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
“I’m gonna find out that day,” Ngannou said. “I don’t believe anything that you do now. I know you’re a big character.”
Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) reminded Frampton and Ngannou that he promised prior to his rematch with Wilder that he would walk Wilder down and knock him out. That was exactly what Fury did 14 months after withstanding two knockdowns and fighting Wilder to a 12-round split draw in their first fight in December 2018 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
“I told Deontay Wilder that I was gonna knock him out. Didn’t I?,” Fury said. “In the second fight I said I’m not gonna box, I’m gonna come straight at him. [Frampton] didn’t believe me. Nobody did. I told him I’m gonna knock him out on the front foot, gonna push him back and knock him out, and I did.”
Fury, who FanDuel lists as a 13-1 favorite, and Ngannou will headline a five-fight show ESPN Pay-Per-View will offer in the United States ($79.99; 2 p.m. EDT; 11 a.m. PDT).

Luis Ortiz Continues To Stay in Shape, Feels Avoided By Top Rated Names

Ortiz, 44-years-old, has been inactive since losing a close twelve round unanimous decision to former unified champion Andy Ruiz back in September of 2022.
Ortiz has been staying in shape and waiting for an opportunity to come up.
The dangerous puncher's trainer, Germán Caicedo, is growing with frustration as time passes and options are running out for his fighter.
“He is training every day. We have different routines. Since there is nothing on the horizon he is working on his physical condition. Not as much boxing, but he does come to the gym three times a week. Nobody talks about him," Caicedo told George Ebro.
"I see fighters who say, 'I'm tired of waiting for this one, I can't find an opponent.' Like Tyson Fury who is going to face Francis Ngannou. He didn't call Luis. The same with [Anthony] Joshua, he has no opponent. He hasn't called Luis either. They don't call him. They want to erase him from the map. They want him to disappear so that he no longer bothers them. Since he debuted on the scene they have avoided him.
“Those who do call are the guys who are 10 and 0 with 10 knockouts, offering $100,000 to fight... guys who need it a lot more [than us] so they can say that they fought with Luis whether they win or lose. But that's not worth it at the stage where he is at right now. Fury and Joshua say that they only want to fight for money. OK, Luis is the same, but the difference is that Luis likes boxing.
"The punch is the last thing to go. His abilities from the age of 30 when I met him up until now have been adjusting, knowing that he can no longer do some of the things that he used to do. He does do them, but not constantly. Luis is 44 years old, but he looks like he's 33. He still pushes, beats people on the track. When you see that it makes you angry, because today's heavyweights are cowards."

all i do is go :unimpressed:..theres 2 highly documented occasions where ortiz declined fights and big opportunities..and he got his ass beat by andy ruiz
