No more sanctioning body titles. The new Boxing News stance here - Boxing News

Can't ctrl c ctrl v from the site but basically it says they will no longer acknowledge alphabetic soup title and they will no longer refer to every title holder as champion, instead follow the lineage (accounted by TBRB's ranks) and only call a champion whoever really is the man at his weightclass. Respect to them!

If you don't know TBRB, they are the ranking that can be taken seriously the most in my opinion. A bit sentimental in its style and it takes ages to them until they remove someone from champion status once he got it but overall it's the most up to date, and best ranking system out.
RING is the other one but they are far too lenient with inactivity, not updated often enough, like they still rank Tabiti at cruiser whose last fight was 25 months ago, still rank Kuroda at 112, last fight was 26 moths ago, still rank Pac and Thurman at 147, their last fight was 24 months ago and etc. TBRB cuts you if you haven't fought in 18 months, as it should be.

Tank is a lower tier superstar in boxing. The right match up in his next fight could make him a legit superstar, but its gotta be the right type of fight. 200k against Barrios is decent, but I'm not sure it does that much without those all access episodes (which have been good) Even then he still packed that arena in ATL and turned it into a new fight town. Tank is definitely the new cash cow below 147. Even if you don't rock with his resume like that, he brings the stars out and you get attention.

He just need to fight someone that the casuals and advanced casuals deem as a threat. The name value also has to be greater than LSC and Barrios.

I can't blame Tank for Farmer and Garcia bytching out when both bouts were hyped an anticipated at the time. This new era will kill their own momentum, plus the nikkas that's around them.
Bro I think I mentioned it on the Pod.. but how does Teofimo get a huge underdog win against what a lot thought was #1 P4P in Loma.. picking up 2 1/2 Belts in a historic division in the process, and he doesn’t fight for damn near a whole year :gucci:

Good move by Haney, now all these other young guys should take notice and do the same, if Haney who has the least juice out of Garcia, Lopez, Tank and him can do that he stays with his promoter but demands to be independent as far as networks go, so can the others. This way they would create a climate where networks would have to compete for their fights and that would likely result in more money for them too. Fights would be easier to make.

And a lot of things will be clear now that Haney is free to fight on anywhere, we will see who really wants to fight him and who gets quiet about the idea. Well.... Ryan Garcia could have fought him but clearly he didn't want it so I'm not counting on him for now but will be interesting if Loma, Teo or Tank seek out a fight with him in the near future.

The bolded is the only one who I think where a fight with Haney is realistic to happen. Teo and Tank forget about it they might fight him in about 6 or 7 years probably.

Unfortunately, simply being a free agent won’t get Haney the fights he’s looking for. Team Haney has to figure out how to make himself an attraction.

One of the biggest things in this era is that you have to figure out how to make yourself bigger, without fighting the big name guys. If you can do that, those fights will come.

I don’t understand why guys like Haney & Andrade don’t just sign with PBC. Imagine what a guy like Lara’s career would be like if he was with a different promoter.

How does Tim Tszyu's path look to getting a title fight?

I live in Aus and he's now pretty much cleaned everybody up (absolutely demolished some poor lad today who stepped up on 7 days notice after zerafa dropped out)... keen to hear thoughts from you guys.

Additional random thought - watch out for Joe Noynay.. he was on the tim tszyu undercard today. He fought this guy Liam Wilson who is essentially being built up as the 'next' guy here in Aus after kambosos and tim tszyu. Liam is actually very talented, touted as a future world champ they flew in Joe Noynay from the Philippines as his first 'real test' after going undefeated for nine fights... Noynay hadn't fought in 18 months, did 2 weeks of hotel quarantine and whooped the hometown favourites ass. very entertaining.

Haney is pretty big though, plenty hype around him, only a handful of guys around his division are bigger. It’s just he’s not a big star in comparison of Ryan Garcia or Tank but he’s pretty well known, more than a million ppl follows him on social media, more than the vast majority of boxers.

I’m on a holiday, haven’t seen the fight but saw the KO, Tszyu is a legit talent, I hope his team stops wasting time with making him fight domestic opponents, though he still have time. fukk that Zerafa fight we all know he beats Zerafa, get him to fight and train in the US or at least the UK.

Tim has been wrecking all the fringe dudes at 154. He def has a shot against the winner of Mell/Castano, but I'd like for him to fight someone in the top 10 or top 5 at 154 before he steps up to the top 2 fighters. Would like to see him in there with guys like Michael Soro or Brandon Adams. Hell, even a Gaushe or Fundora. 154 is full of dangerous fights.

his quickest path is being a mando....he's ranked high in 3 of the 4 sanctioning bodies...he's number 1 for the WBO so it could be whoever wins the unification between charlo and castano might have to face him next..but of course for 4 belts it depends on which sanctioning body is up to bat first for the mandatory..but he is close...if the belts become splintered or they let the wbo one go he will be fighting for a vacant title as long as he doesnt take any L's before that

Exactly

All the promo he was doing on Triller for most of the year has been wasted. Like nobody cares about his fight anymore. He better hope Oscar and his coked up ass gets added to his card.
