I think after that 2nd ggg fight Canelo realized most of these guys can't deal with him coming out in high guard off his front foot. Outside of the Jacobs fight where he had to worry about dude switching on him it seems that's his preferred style now. Does his pretty defensive shyt on the outside once he is in range he is in high guard waiting for the 1-2 second he catches a right on his gloves a left hook is coming and his hand speed is so much quicker than these guys they don't have nothing for him after and they gotta worry about whats coming after the hook. He hit ggg with it a gang of times, he hit Smith w it a gang of times he hit kkkov w it a gang of times.

ggg smarter than these guys so he started catching on and shooting the jab more so Nelo plays the left hook game, hit you to the body a few times then starts change the punch halfway to hit you up top.

dude's career post Floyd has been interesting as fukk to watch after seeing him get 12-0'd I was thinking for sure he was going to be done mentally. Matter of fact I'm trying to remember what fighters rose to p4p after being dominated like that? Maybe Bhop/Jones? :patrice: Even still that wasn't as bad as Floyd/Nelo Hopkins def lost but he had his little successes here and there in the fight.

say whatever you want about him (whether you felt he got “gifts” or not), can’t deny the improvement he’s made as a fighter since that Floyd fight. One thing I like about em is how, although his stamina was shotty a few years ago, dude still use to leave it all out there in the championship rounds in those big fights. He seizes the moment now

This is only one gif, but canelo was doing this shyt from the very first round. That's why I don't understand why people get mad at kovalev for not throwing more power shots. Damn near every single time he threw a power punch canelo would send him flying back with the left hook. And this gif is a perfect example of that.

What's impressed me most about canelo lately is his efficiency. He doesn't waste any punches anymore and it's helping him conserve his energy. Every punch he throws is with a purpose and they're meant to do damage. And if his opponent makes a mistake he makes them pay for it almost every time. Dudes IQ in the ring is 2nd to none. That first golovkin fight was a blessing for him. That's the fight that made canelo realize he needed to take his conditioning seriously. That was his only Achilles heel. He stays in fighting shape year round now. He's really following that Floyd/b hop blueprint now. Just keeps adding new elements to his game and evolving with age.

Even if you don't like dude you have to respect him. I troll the ggg fans on here and his level of opps because at this point its on brand for me :lolbron: but I respect dude as a fighter, everyone harps about his power but he is a very smart fighter.

The (legit) arguments about Canelo have been his activity, his stamina and his footwork. He showed big improvement in his footwork in the 1st ggg fight, improvement in his punch output since the 2nd ggg fight and he just went 12 throwing a gang of punches against a bigger guy without slowing down. I don't see any of this current crop of guys around his weight beating him, hopefully he stays away from 175 though I don't like him at that weight at all. I think he can beat a majority of these light heavies but it will take time off his career imo.

So canelo's next 3 fights are pretty much set in stone. Yildrim, saunders, plant.

If you're benavidez or charlo you need to be screaming at the mountain top for a plant fight right now. They both know for a fact that plant is getting that fight in September if he has the belt. If they want canelo then plant is the guy they need to beat. No excuses. I would love to see Charlo vs plant at 168. It would draw a lot of attention and it would only make that canelo show down that much bigger.

yeap the first big punch in the 2nd ggg fight was the left hook. I think ggg intended to go out there Messican style felt that and was like ":patrice: this ain't winnable approach"

Caleb vs Charlo or Benevidez would be super ideal, both great fights!!

And you can't blame him. Cause he was right. He knew if he stood there and traded he was getting knocked out. So he did what was best for him. He just got so much criticism because he asked for a Mexican style war and he didn't back up his end of the bargain.

I got a lot of respect for a golovkin as a fighter. Even right after that fight I gave him his props. Now the reason I still shyt on him is because he could never give canelo his respect. It's the same reason I lost respect for Loma and Wilder. There's nothing I hate more than a sore loser. Even if golovkin felt like he won....at the very least you gotta give canelo his respect for that battle. You just have to. Dude was ready to die that night. Even super Marios hateful ass swallowed his pride and gave canelo his flowers. Cause at that point there was no other choice.

But golovkin could never do that. He showed love in the ring but as soon as he got back with his buddies in the media he went back to calling canelo a fake Mexican and all that corny shyt. It's the reason canelo got in his face at the weigh in. He said golovkin never has shyt to say in person but as soon as I leave he wants to run his mouth. And he did the same exact shyt again after the rematch. So as a person I think golovkin is a chump. But as a fighter there's no denying he was one of the best talents of his generation. Just not better than canelo :myman:

That fight might have ruined him and he didnt go "messican style" dude would have been done done had he tried it. :picard:

I was mentioning it another thread but I just rewatched that shyt and the sound that both of their punches were making :hhh: absolutely disgusting. Both of them were prob pissing blood that night. :hhh:

It really bothers me that there isnt more pageantry in boxing. There should be more done for the fighters. It shouldn't just be all about belts.

Like why isnt there an end of year awards ceremony where the p4p top 10 list is announced? Why isnt the p4p number 1 fighter more heralded? Why isnt there a p4p belt?

I feel like tennis and soccer have more pageantry.

Boxing has too many agendas an is just flat out too divided to do something like that.
Most platforms are aligned with some type of promoter or boxers, etc.... so its hard to get some unbiased rankings and shyt. Hell, we all just seen James Toney get shafted from the HOF so its hard to really respect the shyt thats out there since nobody accountable for anything. That's the gift and the curse of boxing tho. :manny:

depends on who can vote.

Honestly I just wish boxing productions had more pageantry. I like how the Japanese gave Floyd Mayweather flowers before his fight against Tenshin. Stuff like that makes it more magical and mythical. Boxing is a brutal sport but it doesnt have to be so vulgar before and after the final bell.
