Maybe. If "prime mike" is pre buster douglas mike I think i'm going 50/50 against anybody in the worst case
even these current giants
sometimes it seems like ppl think Lewis was the first tall fighter Tyson faced but pre-Douglas he was running thru a gang of 6'3-6'5 guys with ease :manny:

What is “Prime Tyson”? 80s Mike or 90s Mike? Who did he beat that impresses you the most?

Or are we doing the eye test over resume?

Joshua lost to fukking Mexican Donkey lips N was terrified of him in the rematch despite dude being 3xs more :flabbynsick:

We really debating about if Mike Tyson could beat AJ:childplease:

Mike would beat the dog shyt out of Frank Bruno 2.0 ... that ain't a debate. I just want to know who Mike beat that got folks thinking he the GOAT or invincible. He's an ATG but they like putting extras on him.

If he didn't go to prison in the early 90s he would've gotten tested even more after that Buster Douglas fight. Too many great HWs in that period that were better imo, but of the crop today it ain't that many that could beat him.

But folks thought Buster Douglas had no chance so it's all speculation. Anything could happen in boxing, especially with a dude like Tyson who was not mentally tough. He folded when a nikka studded up on him.

Honestly frank Bruno wasn't as bad as people make him out to be. Was better conditioned in the witherspoon lennox Lewis etc before bulking up too much.

Mike was too short for HW, he did have a good early run against taller fighters but none as skilled as Tyson or Joshua. When buster hurt him his mystic of invincibility was gone, fighters knew he could be hurt. We all saw what a cruiser eight in Holyfield did to Tyson, he couldn’t beat the likes of Frazier let alone foreman. Fighters that are much taller and skilled, fury, Joshua, vitali, Lewis, would be too much. Clinch him up close and punch him coming in.

Tyson was always the shorter fighter & guess what...he usually out jabbed much taller guys because he has a skillset that's missing today:

Bone Crusher Smith
Mitch Green
Jose Ribalta
Carl The Truth Williams
Tyrell Biggs

All of these guys hovered around the 6'5 mark & were skilled & guess what again...3 out of the 5 were KO'ed. The other 2 went the distance because they got away with excessive holding & grappling that wouldn't fly today. These current crop of heavies wouldn't know how to deal with the kind of pressure & angles Mike would put on them. Not to mention the intimidation factor of knowing all it would take is one punch & their night would be over

As my bro Tua posted a clip from Mike's podcast a week or two ago when he made a point about Mayweather which could be applied in this situation.

The current heavies & Mike are 2 different species of nikkas :heh:

So what happened with Buster Douglas? That intimidation shyt only worked for lesser comp.

Mike would be a champion today or have the ability to be no question, but Wilder could beat him. Fury could beat him as well. You don't have to mystify fighters of old to show them proper respect.

If you call yourself a real boxing fan & not just a fan of fighters you know what happened in that fight. I nor anyone of the hardcores should have to explain that

I know what happened as well, I'm a boxing fan homie. I bring that up because you're talking as if Mike was so much more skilled in comparison to today's fighters and would steamroll them all. But he lost to Buster Douglas who probably doesn't even beat AJ, Wilder, Fury or even Luis Ortiz, due to a flaw/weakness he has.

We don't get to do away with who fighters were in the past and play make-believe. The nikka was on the narcotic and off a coke binge before the Buster Douglas fight...he had demons that prevented him from beating the best. If you put him up against some of the fighters of today with the same issues he had back in the day he would get beat by someone and upset eventually. He also had stamina issues where if you could endure the early rounds you could beat him.

But that aside, who do you feel is Tyson's best win?

We're not talking about his demons or any of the extra things you mentioned. Whenever we talk about fighters from different eras fighting each other no one brings up drug problems or that other stuff. In usual hypotheticals we're going off prime & skills & in his prime he would beat these current crop of HW's way more times then they would beat him. You know why he lost to Douglas bro so you using that as an example didn't even make sense.

You really think a prime Mike wouldn't be able to close the gap in this era (like he's done with most of his opponents) on AJ, Wilder, Ortiz, & Fury?

Wow bro :heh:
