MMA is a 30 years old sport or what
Easier to have a crystalised hierarchy between organizations when your sport is 30 years old than when your sport is damn near 150 years old.
Boxing fragmented throughout the times, 90% of talent is not with one promoter/network like how I hear it is in MMA with UFC having the vast majority of top talent. MMA is actually more fragmented with having all these leagues without crossing over (UFC, Bellator, One, etc...) it's just UFC is holding most of the aces. But how long...?
When/if MMA will be 100+ years old let's see how clear the spread of talent in it will be and how easy the transition from fighting on one network to fighting on another network will be.

While it had its fixing and race problems before the multiple belts era, boxing actually only had 1 champions/division too for long decades

Wilder played himself hedging all his bets on a Fury rematch instead of fielding offers from Joshua/Hearn

He coulda made a good chunk of change taking AJ's head off and becoming undisputed...but he was absolutely fixated on a instant Fury rematch...when that fight is always gonna be there.

Now he gotta fight a nikka like Dominic Brazeale for like 10-15 Million less than he would against AJ.

Or run it back with Ortiz

He can still fight Joshua later this year..hes still under Showtime. Joshua supposedly wants the fight.
