I saw it broken down like this and it's perfect description.
Breaking Bad is a plot driven show with excellent characters, and Better Call Saul is a character driven show with an excellent plot.
I'm actually enjoying Saul more. I don't know if I'd say it's a better show or not. I don't think it's as ground breaking or innovative maybe, but fukk...the whole creative team has just mastered their craft. The cinematography is absolutely out of this world, and they're able to really indulge themselves in taking their time with telling a slow burn story and connecting things. Odenkirk, Rhea, and Mando all give powerhouse performances too. I find Jimmy and Nacho to be more relatable than Walt and Jeese as well, for whatever reason.
I'll probably never say it's better than Breaking Bad, but I enjoy seasons 4 and 5 of BCS as much as any season of BrBa. I do think the slower seasons on BCS are maybe a little sower than the slower seasons on BrBa.
BCS is a very nuanced show, and I absolutely love it. Somehow both shows really make each other better. Some people might say it's better if they really nail the ending, and no matter what I think, I probably wouldn't argue with them.
It's a close call IMO.

I love this show but really dislike the Kim/Saul/Howard plot. It reminds me of the season 5 Wire fake serial killer plot. Stumbling at the end.
This is the first season I have had negative feelings about any plotlines.

Yeah BCS being more nuanced and less reliant on serialization gives it the edge for me. But they're absolutely each others peers

this is why i cant give BCS the nod. the first couple of seasons of BCS are even slower than the first couple of seasons for BrBa. still excellent. and every key beat buildup-wise pays off or is paying off. i dont even know what you'd change. the buildup just feels too slow, at times. and i'm not nearly as invested in chuck as i was walt's family + jesse's world. even tho i know that chuck is crtiical.
She was raised by an addict, so she learned to depend on herself at an early age......and not take crap from anyone.Jimmy in the Howard makeup was hilarious....At first I thought that was part of Howard's dream that he was describing to his therapist.
It never really occurred to me until this episode that Kim and Mike have never officially met. Mike is right about Kim. She is made of stronger stuff then Jimmy. I like that so far she hasn’t told him that Lalo might be alive. Also like the fact that being his lawyer transitioned him from. Bottom feeding lawyer into what Jesse on Breaking Bad would call a “Criminal” Lawyer or something to that nature. I forget the exact words but this is the beginning of the making of it. While Kim is taking the pro bono work we have Jimmy taking the actual criminals who can pay. But they are both still doing shady stuff.

If this sticks the landing then it 100% should be placed right alongside "Breaking Bad", and unless people are stanning the fukk out of another show (which is fine) then top 5 lists should probably be rearranged.
Surpass though? I don't know about all that.
This shows lows aren't as low as "Breaking Bad" (I wasn't a fan of the magnet episode, and season 5A in general felt slightly rushed) but "Breaking Bad" had way more highs.
