We got a deeper look into Howard and Gus this episode, mutually masked up even in their homes/supposedly intimate therapy.

Howard's my favorite character/what I've been anticipating the most, so i'm satisfied; really appreciated when this episode started off with the camera right up in his space/setting the scene of us following and getting deeper into his character now, since we really don't get solo Howard scenes.

The camera work was really intimate in general this episode, for every character and the feeling of them being followed for Kim, in isolation for Saul, and in paranoia for Gus; a lot of close ups and over the shoulder views.

Gus on that Jeezy "My rooms got rooms" :ohhh:

Kim not telling Jimmy about Lalo is a problem. She's out here swimming with the sharks while Jimmy is jerking off on this Hamlin revenge mission. Mike already saw Kim's work when she stood up to Lalo after the desert mission. If the cartel had their way - would we have been watching 'Better Text Wex'? :ohhh:

The acting behind the change in dememanor when Gus is out of the public eye is great.

The colour palette game is still going. Kim is wearing blue and actually appears to be doing genuine legal work, while Jimmy is surrounded by yellow. The yellow on the woman's tracksuit in the cold open had me :jbhmm:before we even knew what she was up to.

Ep was dope and I'm :gucci: at people saying it was boring.

If that's your opinion :hubie:cool but if this was boring how did you cats watch "The Wire"? Which had multiple extended scenes discussing a mayoral election and the inner workings of a newspaper. :dead:

Anyway, we still got 9 episodes. They can't keep their foot on the gas every episode, I could understand people saying not much happened if this was ep 11 or 12 or something. It's ep 4 and they just killed off a main character.

This was a "boring" episode just because we know it's the last Season and there aren't many episodes left. So many loose ends to tie up...if this ends in a good way, it will be a GOAT serie next to Sopranos, Wire and Gommorah.

Agreed,

But to me 9 episodes left is still a lot. This final season is longer than people realize. Every season before this was only 10 episodes, but this season has 13, so they almost still have a full regular season's worth of runtime left.

Jimmy in the Howard makeup was hilarious :heh:....At first I thought that was part of Howard's dream that he was describing to his therapist.

It never really occurred to me until this episode that Kim and Mike have never officially met. Mike is right about Kim. She is made of stronger stuff then Jimmy. I like that so far she hasn’t told him that Lalo might be alive. Also like the fact that being his lawyer transitioned him from. Bottom feeding lawyer into what Jesse on Breaking Bad would call a “Criminal” Lawyer or something to that nature. I forget the exact words but this is the beginning of the making of it. While Kim is taking the pro bono work we have Jimmy taking the actual criminals who can pay. But they are both still doing shady stuff.

so overall does this show surpass Breaking Bad?
if you need consistent violence and guns bustin, no.

if you enjoy better developed characters and more nuances in the dialogue, yes.

both shows have similarities in the writing but breaking bad moves faster with moving its plot while better call saul takes more time with developing its cast.
