I've been jaded about female MCs since I found out MC Lyte had ghostwriters

The issue is you’re in the wrong business if you need people to “fine tune” your raps

Ima tell you now nikkas definitely be in writing sessions together. But every one is different. Idk how there’s is going but I know one time I was chillin with Storm, Lu Cipher and Myverse and Myverse was prepping for a battle (cant remember who...mightve been Bonnie...) and she was writing her material and askng us what we think. We werent giving her bars or lines but we’d offer feedback like “yo, maybe you should elaborate on this scheme more” or “if you going this route maybe mention ______”. But again idk how others are doing it. Idk if that counts as ghostwriting or what but at the time i aint think nothing of it.

i have no issue with this. Hell you are presenting a product to the general public, and this is a business after all. I would highly recommend running your bars by someone and getting them critiqued.

The issue i have is if someone gave her 3 rounds and said spit this. That’s it

Look at Verb

I highly doubt he ran his bars by danja zone or anybody the last three battles to simply tell him , “ nah this ain’t it.”

The thing with the Verb his entire career is he has these spots where you can tell he’s just rapping for himself (raps that only appeal to him). He let it get out of control the last few battles.

Needless to say battle rap is competitive in nature where your competing to see who can say the slickest, wittiest, most original shyt

if you get any help passed having someone hear your shyt to get their opinion on it you played yourself

Tbh even letting people you compete against hear your shyt is suspect

I’m mad cass feels the need to spit his shyt to some of these peons

Rosenberg recently said he would never spit his rounds to a battle rapper

gotta respect that

I think this happens to Lux too. He even said it on No Jumper that he never runs his bars by anyone. Even Hollow said when they did the 2 on 2, he Lux would write in secret. He raps to impress himself not appease the fans. That lends to bars that might be great on paper, but don't lend itself to being "battle rap quality" bars sometimes.

:dwillhuh:

Genuinely confused why it's frowned upon to run lyrics that you wrote yourself by someone who's judgement you trust. If anything as stated by others I wish more battle rappers done that.

Can't imagine Showoff ran that Pulverised bar by someone that wasn't trolling him.

That’s one thing

but if nikkas is giving you feedback passed a yay or nay then what do you call that?

and like I said before I prefer nikkas didn’t even do that

what if a nikka leak your shyt to the person you’re battling?

or like u said what if someone thinks that shyt is trash but gives you the ok to set you up for failure

running your shyt by other battle rappers shows you might lack confidence or need approval from other people and you shouldn’t be seeking approval from the same pool of people you compete against

that’s why a lot of these dudes end up sounding the same in some capacity

Constructive feedback

what if a nikka leak your shyt to the person you’re battling?

or like u said what if someone thinks that shyt is trash but gives you the ok to set you up for failure

Hence I said someone you trust, if these situations occur it's on the battle rapper him/herself.

running your shyt by other battle rappers shows you might lack confidence or need approval from other people and you shouldn’t be seeking approval from the same pool of people you compete against

No one knows the battle rapper culture better then battle rappers. Asking for feedback from peers that you trust is normal in any proffesion, why wouldnt it be in br?

These "peons" are some of the best battle rappers in the world. Cass ran his rounds by Danny Myers & Jc for the Goodz battle. He did that because "He" wanted to. Nobody forced him to. Cass got enough arrogance and ego to laugh it off that he "needs" to let people hear his rounds beforehand. He chose the latter and went to some of the people that actually get busy and are bar heavy. Going to Mook and Cal ehhh diff story lol .
