Who do you consider “trap battles?” Guys that typically get wins/debatable because their opponents aren’t scared of them and come with poor prep? It always ends up backfiring thinking that they can beat these guys with weak material.

I wouldn't put Ave in that JJDD/Charron place. It's not so much they don't think Ave's material will be good, I think it's more that a loss to Ave doesn't damage you. It's just like whatever. I like Battle Rap/Wrestling comps, to me, Ave is like Mankind. You can lose to him and still get a world title match on the next PPV. Nobody really cares about his wins or losses. He's a top tier but he can't headline unless he's against God Tier battler.

I feel like DNA is in the Charron/JJDD spot. Danny Myers too. But Danny could be more in the Ave lane as well.

Top tiers don’t view Ave as a threat, because he’s extremely one dimensional and nowhere near as dynamic as Rum Nitty. Math, Clips, and Arsonal showed up with some of the worst material of their career thinking all they had to do is be well rounded.

Ave is just consistent, but there’s nothing impressive about Ave at all.

I think DNA use to be in that category, but he’s grown out of it. He’s gotten much better as he’s gotten older.

I still don’t think his peers take him as a serious threat. Maybe mid tiers and newbies do now. His contemporaries still treat him like an understudy.
