Theres two ways of getting respect, commanding it, and demanding it. Commanding respect is garnering it through action, leaving it up to people to give it to you on their own terms. Demanding respect is literally forcing people to give to you, people who do this arent respected in the first place.

JC, Danny, JTN, etc command respect, and they can do this because people admire/are inspired by them in the first place. Without admiration its impossible to command respect.

Ave demands it, because he knows he has little to no status in BR. Notice he always has to point how much of a "man" he is? Hes "good" at what he does, but he isnt inspiring. People respect him as a man (which is good), but not his vocation.

Something else. There were reports that the court was forcing URL to settle with Norbes. Blogs/Battlers were running with the narrative and saying URL are in trouble. So URL doing this to counter the narrative that Norbes is winning in court.

I dont think so, whether we got a good surf or bad surf depended entirely on his preparation from what i could tell.
Seemed like he just focused.

Not really. His best performance is probably still pre Roc (Hitman battle).

But he was on the down slope in terms of popularity and linking with Roc definitely helped with his image and helping him to be more focused.

I think they both helped each other. There was a noticable difference in Roc's pen post-Surf though. He started punching heavier. It was very clear when he battled Rum Nitty. I remember when he said that fish tank bar and it felt like "That's a bar Surf would say".
