People acting like Rum Nitty just punches is like saying Steph just shoots 3’s. I mean you can say that (it’s incorrect but I get it)…but no one does it like them…they’re the greatest at it by far. And not for nothing, but Nitty would be an insane battle rapper without all the punches, imo
His vocal projection is insane, he sounds like a monster up there. His setups are excellent…he doesn’t just throw some random bullshyt words together to setup the next bar he wants to rhyme it with on some Ave, Ill Will, basically everybody else, “So don’t try to act like you flare toolies, brethren…” shyt.
The way he bends words and makes shyt that maybe shouldn’t rhyme rhyme perfectly without forcing it. The multis and all that rudimentary shyt, delivery, etc… He is everything that Twork has the potential to be,
. Twork’s ceiling is even higher but that’s a whole other discussion. Rum deserves all the reverence he gets from fans and his peers.

I think it is fair to classify Nitty as a puncher more than a writer due to his overemphasis on punching. Conveying the countless other literary devices available is a fool's errand in a culture waiting for the punch. Nitty is the best puncher of all time. It would be disingenuous to say otherwise. However, while it seems to be the minority, some people find his style monotonous and filled with diminishing returns throughout a battle. Nitty would be a much better battler if he utilized more aspects of writing. For this Punch-Out era, he is GOAT-tier.
Nitty's vocal projection assists his performance, but this is a tonal attribute. His setups work in the context of how he writes his material (8-bar segments); however, I stand by his material being easily interchangeable, and that is my most extensive critique. Not only is it formulaic, it is easier to write loosely linked back-to-back punches than it is to create a round (material) that is entirely coherent. Illmac said everything those who critique Rum have been saying for years. That battle showed me he has no chance against Lux or Daylyt.
Nitty is talented. I understand why he is highly praised, given the climate of the culture. As someone who writes extensively for multiple domains, I find his style outdated.
