That's actually not the whole truth either.
I believe Darkseid was sending him nightmares the same as he did with Batman. That's why he saw Batman at the end in his cell and turned that painting upside down. This whole thing was Darkseid plotting to kill both Superman and Batman before he even got there.
He had multiple conversations with Sen. Holly Hunter that pretty much laid out his problems with Superman. He didn't trust the alien god that destroyed his city and was being worshipped by people.
There were things that tended to be a bit too vague in this movie but Lex's motivations weren't one of them.
That's a good theory but I am just going by what was explicitly shown in the movie and Lex's motivations were pretty explicitly depicted.

I think JL will be received the same way this was and if JL is anything like BVS I'll love. *The fight scenes were AMAZING !!!
*Batfleck IS the best Batman/Bruce we've ever seen
*supes got his ass whooooooped so bad he clapped [LMAOOO]
*Alfred was amazing
*WW is amazing
*Agreed with me that the Aquaman movie will be the sleeper hit, LOVED his character and costume
*Batman used PREP TIME WELL [yasssssss lawwwwd
]

*Too much cgi in the final fight
*bat mobile car chase was too game like, he said without the cgi the car chase would be the GOAT scene ever
*felt like a batman movie than a MOS sequel
so basically.. he said its a dope movie, and not worthy of that 30% rt rating should be higher, feels like the rating are based on marvels fun ''tone'' and not focused on the actual BvS movie

Wasn't nearly as bad as reviews make it seem. Enjoyed it a lot. Definitely not the Batman and Superman people have romanticized from the comics but it works for the movies and universe they're setting up.
Loved the use of The Flash coming back in time. His armor reminded me of Injustice Flash
