Not exactly a lot of room for "new interpretations"
batman was once played by a tanned Jew, lex could easily be played by a coby bell lookalike with acting talent. Lois could easily be played by any blacked haired broad with cream skin ranging from Puerto Rico to armenia stop making excuses

They could've went with a black Lex. Not mad that they didn't but it would've been a different look. And Lois could've been any nationality they wanted. Again, not mad they didn't do it but it would've been easy to do it

Most people including myself are convinced that lex was black in the animated series but I was never sure about that. But even if he wasn't first time for everything if they decided to go that route. Like I said I'm not mad that they didn't but they could've. And they did make Mercy Asian

lex wasn't black in the TAS, come on. he was voiced by this guy.

plus let's be real would you really be surprised to learn that the richest, most powerful, and perhaps most evil man on earth is a white guy?

lex luthor represents "the man". he's not black.

but man... when you think about it... :patrice:

I don't know if you're fukkin around in saying he couldn't be black cause he was voiced by a white guy or serious lol. But yeah man on everything I love me and everyone else I knew assumed homie was black. Just a light skin brother. Clark and Bruce were definitely lighter than him along with any other white guy on the show.

:yeshrug:i just don't think he was black.

even superman was a lil dark on that show. dude was lookin like ricky ricardo.

Well yeah it was never clarified and everyone I knew assumed he was black lol so that's what we went with. Anyway tho they could've made the characters whatever race they wanted breh none of them are defined by their race. But that's their choice to do it or not do it I'm not mad at them for it. I'm still there at the midnight show

well they are and they aren't. it's hard to just ignore 70 years of visual iconography.

assume a mexican dude were cast as superman in the next movie and a chinese dude were cast as batman. i could be wrong but i just don't think the fandom at large would be universally behind it. no matter how hard they try and cape for ethnic diversity.
