What I also saw was Martha was the last words he heard his father say (they played it 3 times for us in the movie) and when supes said it he sounded like and gave him a slight flash back to his pops
You can also tell they really tried to make it clear what the intentions were. They let the camera linger on forever for people to pickup certain signs. However, them doing that only made it seem sillier for those that didn't like/care/get it.

It's really not that complicated. Only trolls are harping on it. Of all it's issues that wasnt one.

its a few things..
1. fanboys wanted batman to kill him.
2. people nowadays need every detail spelled out and they don't wanna think or cant think and it went over their head.
3. it caught people totally so off guard to the point it didn't register what just happened

Yup. I get it from a thematic point and got it then but i still feel like there's a way to make it hit stronger as a moment and as a moment of clarity for him.

It was a good moment.

The problem is the payoff is much better if there was already a Batfleck film with him dealing with grief of missing his mother.

The movie does ask a lot of the audience. It assumes that you know a lot about these characters and that you'll understand why they are not acting like themselves. Great concept, execution could have been better. Especially if we had another Batman movie or if they made two movies out of this.

that was the problem .. the execution wasn't there.. the reveal wasn't done ala sixth sixth style.. when we flashed back to all the times and we like oh shyt... the prestige wasn't there.. they had the hidden build up and the punch line/prestige was flat .. no BANG

the bolded is what I thought people didn't want .. we already had batmans origin 3 times in 15 years.. plus the movie had flashbacks and we got had a few animated movies.. I thought we the audience was tired of origin stories

It's a good moment but it comes down to execution. Snyder isn't a guy who grasp emotion like that lol. at least not lately. It's an emotional character beat that needs a director who understands that. Like you said, show him dealing with that more or make it a bigger part of what he's dealing with and it hits better. It's a good moment if you isolate it. It's a perfect moment for batman. But as a part of the whole, it feels meh because of everything that came before it or didn't come before it. It's clearly foreshadowed and I don't think anyone missed that unless they're stupid or blind, but it's about execution. Both civil war and this flick dealt with parental grief but it plays out better in one because it's clearly a part of one characters journey whereas with the other it's like "is this a part of his journey or just bruce's normal moping around about his parents?" And it's messed up because he has a great arc in this movie. Going from being this crazed vigilante who's not even a good man anymore to going back to being a good dude because he's realized what he's become and at what costs and that he's become a version of joe chill. That's good shyt but it just fell flat like my man @Atsym Sknyfs said

The prestige :wow:

I'm kinda :ehh: on dr. strange right now even though it's got everything that i should be excited about. I'm seeing it no doubt but I'm more :coffee: than:yes:
Im excited about it because of the character, but I'm very apprehensive about how it will be executed just because of the tone that seems to be what Marvel movies go for nowadays. He's a dark character and I'm gonna feel some type of way if he's on some Def Comedy Jam shyt in this movie:francis:

:russ: he better not have one-liners for days. The one thing I know you'll love about Civil War is that Black Panther is his own character with his own voice. He's not joking and doing a standup routine while he's fighting. There's even a moment where someone tries to get him to make a quip and he does the equivalent of :beli: and proceeds to whoop ass.

The trailer definitely sells a tone and if they keep that tone, then cool.
