Give me an example of a scene in a superhero movie where a building full of people explodes and a nearby hero stands around doing nothing.
I'm don't mean literally :francis:
I mean scenes of destruction in public places which is common with superhero stuff.

I don't even think Snyder is capable of pulling that kind of emotion out of his actors.

Those tears were probably added in post.
Cgi tears :dead:

Snyder has one last chance to make up for this with JL. Hopefully he learned a lot but I won't hold my breath.

Suicide Squad looks like the truth though, it'll be the saving grace.

The biggest problem I'm finding with many BvS detractors, is that they are too focused on their idealized version of the film and can't seem to just let this version play out. It's sad really.

No, they did let this version play out and they didn't like it.

Why aren't DC stans getting this?

In what version of Superman is it logical for him to stand in the middle of an explosion while regular folk are burning to death? It's just flat out dumb if he is any type of hero.

I reaeeeally don't want to get into this but why is the assumption he's letting people suffer and die at the courthouse. There was a perimeter, you were either inside or way outside the court. Isn't it reasonable to assume everyone instantly died and others were a safe distance away. Honest question. Would a minute of dialogue have cleared this up?

Nah. The second he mentioned that these characters weren't what they always were...

that was the point of the movie. Batman was lost. Superman was still finding his place in the world.

I agree that Snyder's style can turn people off. But it seems people are more focused on what the characters were instead of what they are in the movie and how ultimately they become what they aspire to be.

Again, if you think the plot is convoluted, the directing was crap..fine. But just cause they were still finding themselves as characters...eh.
That's the thing. That's not what people wanted to see, as evidenced by the diminishing box office returns (which proves that it's not just the critics hating on this movie, the word of mouth from average moviegoers is bad as well).

What sells this movie is not the 2 heroes fumbling around to find themselves. It's the clash of two people who mostly want the same thing , but have different ways of going about it. Whether the movie was going to be dark or lighthearted, the clashing of those 2 people and their ideologies is what people wanted to see.

But how does "not what I want to see" = bad?

It wasn't what I wanted to see. However, I thought they executed it well imo. I like the idea that these characters actually get to improve in future movies instead of being ready made characters. This allows an arc. We saw hyper violent angry Batman....now he'll evolve.

If this was the only movie ever made with these characters I get it. There is far more story to tell.

No it's not reasonable. It's an explosion not a nuclear extinction level explosion where people are just turned to dust. In that case, yes people are burning and their lives are in the balance. A court house has things like walls/ceiling/staircases etc. that partially block the blast from portions of people in other parts of the building.
But let's say everyone died instantly. How about him just checking for fukks sake?! That was a time for fukking action and dude just stood their moping.
