I look at it like this. Thanos was wrong. With the power he acquired he could have solved overpopulation another better way. He was working backwards from his hypothesis as if it was the only solution to his perceived problem.

It was explained in the comic that he did what he was doing because he fell in love with death and the only way to get her attention was to cause that level of death on a massive scale. I mean that's still a bit silly but it's far better than some smart guy so obsessed with his solution he's got on blinders to any other way.

I find it funny that people got so upset over Netflix calling him a sociopath when that's exactly what he was. Half the universe had to die because it was his derived answer to the problem of overpopulation. It's not even as if they died to prove him right because he never really attempted another way.

It's like if a guy's wife got cancer and he didn't want the cancer to kill her so he says the only way to stop the cancer from killing her it to kill her himself. He smothers her to death with a pillow. Maybe he loved his wife and he didn't want to see her waste away to nothing so he did it out of love. Sure he prevented the cancer from killing her but was he right that was the only way?

Its not, it really isnt. Making a female death character and introducing a love angle there would be god awful in a movie. That shyt is better left in the comics. And in terms of the story, his method works, as he said he checked in on Gamora's planet and its a paradise.

Yeah, I believe they confirmed Thanos' snap killed plants and animals to. Therefore, it is a very dumb plan. But they also said he was an unreliable narrator in IW so maybe he was lying about why he did it.

A simple factor people seem to be over looking (didn't see anyone mention it, anyway) is, it's possible wiping out half of all life wasn't Thanos plan.

Prior to getting all the Stones he went from planet to planet wiping out sentient life....he wasn't killing plants and animals. But people seem to forget that nobody had ever used the Stones together prior to Thanos....and it's not an exact science. So it's possible he wanted to wipe out half of all sentient life, but ending up wiping out half of everything.

Which would be catastrophic. Think of all the ecosystems on Earth that would collapse. Think of simple shyt like bees, that cross pollinate 30% of the world's crops and 90% of all wild plants. Boom, half of them instantly gone. shyt would go left, real fast.

I guess this is the part where someone claims he's stupid for doing it without knowing the consequences....that's not stupid, it's evil. Because he had a plan and chose to follow through with it, no matter what.

He destroyed half of all life.... doesnt this affect food supply if he killed animals? What kinda plan is this... if hes worried about not enough to go around and full bellies...

I still believe this was just bad wording to make him sound more threatening but by the time someone pointed out how stupid the shyt sounded it was too late for them to make excuses. Either that or it was supposed to be some plot twist but by the time someone pointed out how stupid the shyt sounded it was too late to change.

Thanos is a super genius, he'd never do that dumb ass shyt, defeats the entire purpose of his mission. They just realized how stupid the shyt is & nobody wants to gracefully take the L for the flawed writing or plan.

put that in the movie.. i aint reading interviews for shyt that should be in the script.

I would say there's a spiritual reason white folks rewrote thanos like that. I suspect it'll be revealed soon.

They do that with all other characters and "heru/hero" vs "villain" stories, on purpose.
