SDCC 2014: ARROW STAR STEPHEN AMELL TEASES BIG COMIC-CON PLANS

Amell says the Arrow panel is just the tip of the iceberg.

BY ERIC GOLDMAN 2 JUL 2014

What's Stephen Amell up to at San Diego Comic-Con? The Arrowstar will be part of the panel for his series, of course, but today he teased much more is in store.

During a longer Facebook post, Amell wrote the following:

You know I'm going to be at San Diego Comic-Con International this year, but you have no idea what I'm going to be doing. The Arrow panel on Friday evening is the literal tip of the iceberg. Feel free to speculate. There are (at least) 3 more things on my schedule. Big things. Needless to say, I plan on winning Comic-Con this year. Captain Style.

The comments on that Facebook status immediately began to fill with speculation on what Amell's other SDCC commitments could be - and quickly turned to a lot of pondering about whether we might get a reveal that he is part of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the Justice League movie, something many fans hope will occur. Of course, there's no guarantee that is the case, and is being fueled by a prevalent fan desire that Amell's Arrow will be tied into the DC Comics movies, but it's certainly difficult not to wonder what Amell means by "big things."

In addition, Amell wrote:
Heading to a new city this September to meet some friends. Announcement is coming Tuesday.

Crossovers between Arrow and The Flash are almost a certainty -- the trailer for The Flash has already revealed Amell has a guest appearance in the pilot episode -- so that could be the Tuesday announcement. But we will have to wait and see.

In the meantime, Amell also revealed another video of his training for Season 3 of Arrow, with some very amusing video game-inspired decoration.

Here's what Amell had to say about Arrow's future when we spoke to him after the Season 2 finale.

:snoop: Nerds. There's no way Warner Bros. would use TV actors for their Big Budget movie franchise.

:heh: Can we talk about how Brandown Routh went from playing Superman/Clark Kent in "Superman Returns" to being a reccuring TV actor.

Arrow Targets Brandon Routh to Play Major DC Comics Superhero in Season 3

9eIaG1q.jpg

Brandon Routh is set to play another DC Comics super man — this time on Arrow.
The erstwhile Man of Steel is joining the CW hit’s third season in the recurring role of Ray Palmer, aka DC superhero The Atom, TVLine has learned exclusively.

An unparalleled scientist and inventor, Ray will play an unexpected role in the lives of Oliver and (rumored love interest) Felicity as the new owner of Queen Consolidated. Palmer’s plans for Queen Consolidated’s Applied Sciences Division will be shrouded in mystery.

In addition to his myriad comic book appearances, Ray/The Atom — who can alter the size of his body as well as Brandon Routh Arrow The Atomother objects — has turned up in numerous animated series, including, most recently, Cartoon Network’s Young Justice. Arrow marks the character’s live-action debut.

So it looks like that casting call was for Ray Palmer/The Atom and not Ted Kord/Blue Beetle.

Wonder if they will recast Jean Loring (The Atom's love interest/wifre in the comics)now since the broad who played her on the show during Moira's trial is old enough to be Routh's mom.

My DC Brehs what do you make of this? It feels like a Chris Evans/Ryan Reynolds deal where its an actor playing dual known comic roles in the same world.

There's a rumour going around on twitter that Stephen Amell will announce at SDCC that he is in the DC Cinematic Universe and thats his big announcement. If that's so (and thats a stretch) that pretty much acknowledge that the TV and Cinema Universe as one and opens the possibilty that the TV heroes working with the Movie ones in JL.

Which would be weird seeing Routh and Cavill work:mjlol:

Probably wont happen and they wont crossover but it would be funny as hell if they do

I am not one of those people who needs the TV and movie universes to be connected. I would like it if it happens but if they decide to keep them separate I wouldn't be upset or anything.

I think this would be the best way to catch up with the marvel universe. This way you dont waste time explaining the background for each character you want in the JLU movie. I think amell has really nailed the green arrow character, and it would be weird seeing another actor if they decide to have that character in the movie. Also if they do have deathstroke in the movie, the actor from last season def needs to get that role. I'm not too sold on the new flash actor yet, but we'll see.

:dahell: You just finding that out??!! Stephen Amell doing his own stunts was the biggest eye-opener & probably the best part of the Pilot because you usually never see actors do their own stunts.

Because of insurance.

Mind you, they do all still have stunt doubles.

Of course. How else would he be able to run that fast?

:deadmanny:

I hope they dont overdo the crossover episodes between the two shows early on

Yeah, the pilot should be it.

The vast majority of actors start off on TV. :yeshrug:
