Only caught up enough in the og so that when i watched the live action i wouldn’t get too spoiled if it gets expanded upon later in the series i wouldn’t know

In that case, yeah, it does.

They don't mention it in Arlong Park but the slavery/discrimination against Fishmen thing comes up later on in the manga/anime. In fact much later on there's basically an entire arc about that history. Probably just brought it up earlier in the live-action since we don't know if it'll get that far.

Starting Episode 5 of the live action. Liked what they did with Usopp and Kuro, even if Kuro and his crew were a little cheesy at times.

They're revealing Garp being Luffy's grandpa WAY earlier than in the manga.

In the OG I don't think Garp even appeared until after East Blue, and we didn't find out he was related to Luffy until after Enies Lobby. But I can understand why they did that, need to give Garp's actor something to do and there's no guarantee the show will get to Enies Lobby.

Garp and Koby are getting mad screentime in this. Way more than they got in the manga/anime.

I'm not mad at it though. Would be waste of good actors only to give them a few scenes.

I don't know exactly but I think it would be somewhere around the 40-50 episode mark of the anime

It's been forever since I watched those episodes but you'll know when you get to that part of the story.
