No I didn’t miss that part but a huge part of nami was avoiding fighting, she takes down some fodder in group fights sure but she doesn’t fight like that even later in the series she isn’t that much of a fighter, she was getting washed by that one dinosaur chick that was head butting the hell out of everyone despite her showing her devotion to Luffy’s dream.

They obviously took a different stance on how cowardice is portrayed I can get that. Even Usopp and Coby are more brave here. Alot of the characterization is a bit accelerated but they never show her in this taking down actual threats just petty marines.

Even in the Manga she showed she had ability initially but needed the Clima Tact to actually win against stronger foes.

Just watched the first episode and I'm pretty impressed. The casting here is A1 and I enjoyed the fast pacing and directing.

Good acting too, they definitely found the right person to play Luffy. I was skeptical because this just doesn't seem suitable for live-action, but it's good so far.

I will say I'm not digging the fish eye lens even if I somewhat understand the choice and Netflix needs to cool it with the dimly lit desaturated color grade they put on all their content

I like their take on how things lead into Arlong Park. I prefer how the original sid it but this is a good way to tie it all together

This proves my point Nami strikes when dude isn’t looking she isn’t a king fu fighter like that and she is a far better fighter than her manga counterpart. We’ll just have to agree to disagree on this issue Breh.

Saw eps one. Don't remember Kung fu Nami but I guess they had to for American audiences

I like how even though she was taking on multiple opponents she was shown struggling a bit with the marines and they were getting shots in. Thats on par with Nami's level.

(Though they showed Luffy kinda struggling in that scene too yet in the manga Luffy pretty much curbstomped East Blue with little difficulty)

Nami wasnt shown to be able to take on Multiple enemies till much later. They nerfed luffy and Zoro and upgraded Nami. Gave Koby bytch ass tons of screen time. I don't hate the show but the changes that they made did kind of irk me. But if Oda da gawd good with it I'm good with it

I binged it yesterday, and I liked it.

Coby and Garp probably got a lot of screentime because they are reaccuring characters, and they had to give the actors work.

This life action show........yeah it seems like something folks are watching just to see how it's handled. This isnt good on its own merit. If there wasn't a manga I wouldn't watch this as an original show.

Some of these casting choices would be unbelievable later in the story. Ben Beckman looks like fat Steven Seagal for example.

Also a big problem is a lot of Luffy's charm and personality comes through in his facial expressions. You cant convey a lot of that in live action.
