For some reason no one has pointed it out but dont y'all find it weird how adamant Katakuri is about killing Luffy specifically despite the entire straw hat crew.
Plus in this chapter even the Noble Croc and the chess soldiers were even confused as to why he wanted to wait for the straw hats when their chance at making it to the sunny were zero. Plus, why would you willing want to be in the direction that big mom is coming in her deranged state, Katakuri from all people should know this.
This is gonna sound crazy, but I think he is a part of the Monkey D. family. The fact that he's adamant about confronting Luffy and he has a noticeable mark on the left side of his face (even though he has the same scar on his right side) like all the other monkey d.'s.
