Didn't Sheila Jakson sign off on the Republican pick? Maybe that was a compromise that had to be made to have the hearing? I'm not sure.

I think we all agree that what that guy said at the hearing was disgraceful and traitorous to black Americans.

No that is not how these things work. Republicans can bring forth any witnesses they want to make there case against reparations. Attempting to blame her for who the republicans used in this hearing is absolutely ridiculous.

However in the bill, it gives the commission only one year after its first meeting to complete the study and report back to congress and the people. So it’s not something that can go on forever.

(C) One member shall be appointed by the President pro tempore of the Senate.​

(D) Six members shall be selected from the major civil society and reparations organizations that have historically championed the cause of reparatory justice.

I'm sure they can accomplish a lot in a year. People like Darity and others have been studying this stuff for decades already.

So give the majority of the decision making to the politicians and give them the majority. The wording of (D) will end up leaving people out. Like Dr. Claude Anderson.

How did you think this was going to work? Of course elected officials were going to be the ones constructing most of the commission. That's their job.
