I am pissed that John Legend is even being advertised -- like he is someone that should be in the room. We need ADOS experts and scholars. Dj Method and Dumb ass CiroObama are trolls -- I didn't think DJ was at first -- but now it's clear. And I truly think we should ALL ignore these threads they make and post on.

Yeah the message behind ADOS is clear. If people don't understand it. It's because they don't want to.

It’s honestly pretty clear what’s going on. Get a group involved who will muddy the waters, then everyone involved can and will say they tried.

I would have no problem with NCobra if they revised their mission statement. They won’t do that, though. Besides Ados, is there anyone else fighting for our (AA’s, Ados, FBA’s, Native Black Americans) specific reparations claim. NCobra is fighting for every black in this country.

Since N’Cobra will be at the table, I just went through and read their mission statement or their “about us”.

Black African Descendants residing in the United States - man, that’s us AA’s, those who come from the Caribbean that are here in the US, and you could even argue that that also includes Africans that have migrated here. So, are they making a push for reparations for every black man and woman currently living in the US?

Also, what is it that they want when they say “reparations”?

Man :francis:

That’s why it won’t get passed. N’Cobra is either stupid or they’re controlled opposition. They even linked Farrakhan with this. In this climate? The CBC just announced a Jewish-Black Caucus. They’re all over the place and shooting themselves in the foot.

We will have the last laugh. A lot of people are not pleased with Sheila Jackson Lee and others. Expect them to be run against. 2020 can’t come soon enough. We’re just getting started. I know YC and Tone will be in Alabama on Juneteenth. Sandy Darity sending in a letter to Congress on HR 40.

Yep, that’s why I said it won’t surprise me one bit if some of those dudes end up being guests on MSNBC.

We have to continue our work, regardless of what’s going on. More phone calls, letters, and community outreach. We also have to make our voices heard in the election, so we must keep this discussion going. I know there’s an Ados group here in Atlanta. I was out of town last time they met, but I’ll be there next time. Looks like they had a decent turn out.

Lol, knew y’all would be in here unnecessarily aggy. HR 40 is getting its first congressional hearing. Why so mad?

NCobra has worked with John Conyers on this bill and the bill specifically states that it’s for African American descendants of slaves. This unnecessary fear and uncertainty towards a group that has helped lobby for this bill since 2001 is odd and is obviously spearheaded by two people upset that they won’t be able to increase their clout by driving the conversation when it hits the big stage legislatively. This kind of energy is self serving, needless and does nothing to help the overall goal and progress of black people.

What does N’Cobra’s mission statement state?

Also, clout?

I don’t care who gets it done. I want individuals who know what they’re talking about in the room. What data has N’cobra made us aware of in regards to our community’s situation?

I don’t give a damn about Yvette or Tone, and I’ve made it clear outside, that I’m not a fan of Tone. I care about my people getting what is owed, and if you are standing in the way of that then you can move around; YC and Tone included.

I will say that I’m glad that this hearing is happening so early. Significant progress should be made in a years time. Politicians Scott and John Lewis will back the Bill by then, right?

This, along with with Marianne Williamson on the debate stage, and John Legend (lol) getting involve will bring even more awareness to the reparations fight. If no major progress is made in a year, then the Dems deserve the apathy that will come 2020 if it appears nothing is happening.

As far as N’Cobra they have members within their own faction not happy with what’s been going on and the direction they’re going in. Why should ADOS even trust them? This whole time and they’ve got nothing done. Didn’t get the discussion in national media. Sleeping at the wheel.

The data that you speak of has been around before Tone and Yvette. They don’t own it. NCobra and other black folks have been talking about the wealth gap for decades. Tone and them are not the only ones who are qualified to speak on reparations.

There’s two arms of this movement as I see it. The legislative ground work to get a reparations bill actually passed in Congress, which has been going on for decades and spearheaded by Conyers, and the recent talk around reparations on social media that has generated a lot of awareness by people who were not aware. NCobra certainly has had a hand in the former, Ren and Stimpy the latter.

If what you said in the last paragraph is true then I’m not sure what you’re so agitated about instead of happy that things have come this far. All this talk of credit and all that is completely tangential and will mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. I am optimistic but realize there are much greater hurdles to address for this to come to fruition than Tone and Yvette’s petty grievances.

So Mark Thompson didn’t slander ADOS and call N’Cobra the “legitimate reparations” movement on national TV first? How about them sending out emails with plans to take down YC and Tone? Where was the reaching out then? Feel free to form your own N’Cobra thread.
