:umad:ya'll sound like white Trump supporters.

Because I don't believe in border line schizophrenic conspiracy theories I'm white and a Trump supporter? Or is it because I'm using big words that you don't understand? What happened to the big IQ Breh?

My parents were born and raised in West Africa. I'm more African than 99% of The Coli. :hhh:

Yet I still believe that you're crazy.

'Ain't' and IQ in the same sentence, now I've seen it all.
:snoop:An African that thinks that all is good in the world and that there aren't (ain't lol) higher up forces trying to hold coloured people back. I feel sorry for your naive black ass.

Those forces exist. They are everywhere. I've done more in equity work (pertaining to education and opportunity) in a afternoon in the real world than you've done in your entire life. Believe that. You're just looking in the wrong place. The last 5 minutes of The Oscars is not that place.

If anything you're doing a disservice and delegitimizing the REAL issues out there by pointing at bullshyt like this.

:patrice:Why can't it be though? The last 5 minutes is what's talked about the following week. They stole that moment from Moonlight and everyone involved. Now Trump is looking at the Oscars like they are the idiots and not to be taken seriously. He called the entire show "sad". There's def stuff going on behind the scenes. Why is no one talking about all the diversity at the Oscars this week? Those last 5 minutes overshadowed the great night. First Muslim to win an Oscar, Moonlight winning, multiple coloured people winning. It's no coincidence that no one is talking about any of those things because of what happened in the last 5 minutes.

Sure. The moment was stolen. I was HEATED when La La Land initially won. And I said to the people that I was watching with that the celebration of Moonlight winning was killed with that mistake. It took the wind out of the sails.

But I just don't know if I believe that it was purposely done. That's all. We can agree to disagree.

Just frustrating when we finally have a non slavery black movie win. And we got people complaining about white producers, the gay agenda, the feminizing of black men agenda, and the delegitimizing the win by falsely announcing agenda.

I'm choosing to look past all of that and dismiss them out right. Maybe I'm naive. :yeshrug:

:salute:No doubt. I'm hoping that it was just a fukked up mistake by some idiot, but after 88 years and this being the first time, something just didn't feel right. I've watched it back many times now and that was probably the worst most embarrassing way to be awarded the top honour of the night. From the presenters not being able to see best actress on the paper and question it right there and then, to the nearly 3 minute delay in correcting the mistake, to the racist looking guy that made the mistake to begin with. I dunno. I'll hold off further speculation until the investigation is over though.

Moonlight won because of fakkitry, not blackness. I'll let y'all nikkas believe that so you can keep celebrating your "cac daddy validated me" tour.
:yeshrug:I think it won because of it's message about race and black culture more than sexuality. You could have made basically the exact same movie with a straight black guy and it would have held the same weight imo.

Exactly.

Movie is more about struggling with identity, masculinity, the school to prison pipeline, drugs and socioeconomics issues.

You could replace the light skinned dude with a girl and not change anything else (even the gay name calling) and you'd still have a powerful movie that made sense.
