Fair enough.... so do we hardcore support GET OUT for next years Oscars?:ohhh:

What about Jamie Foxxx recent movie Sleepless?:ehh:

Is it too late to get behind Luke Cage for an EMMY?:patrice:

Are we gonna stop being hypercritical for blacks in movies that arent slave or gay movies? Or are we gonna continue to clown, shyt on, and judge them harder than norm and complain about the shyt that actually wins?

Just curious about the protocol going forward :ld:

Got to see pay attention to the film festivals to see what good black directed films are coming out. They don't even nominate horror or action movies with white actors so Sleepless and Get Out aren't the answer. Maybe Bright might be though.

I think that's my problem with it. The screenplay made the movie limited. It basically was a tale of 3 incidents with no real transitional scenes to bridge the gap, especially going from a kid to a teen. Beautiful cinematography, Naomi Harris killed it in every scene, Ali was good...but it was hindered.
It was a character study and we popped in on him at pivotal points in his life.

Aaron Sorkin did the same thing with "Jobs"

Nikkas are expecting it to have a typical structure and plot. Doesn't make it a thin screenplay because it doesn't follow the 3 act structure.

If you can't see the agenda I don't know what to tell you.

I enjoy watching Luke Cage on Netflix , even Mike Colter and his short stint in Million Dollar Baby.

I enjoyed watching Ali in Luke Cage on Netflix as well as House of Cards, but if you gone sit hear and tell me Moonlight was better than Fences as a black man :childplease:

I said the cinematography was Oscar worthy. :comeon:
The original score has only one theme. That's not better than most. That one score was a good though.:comeon:
And I wasn't saying the movie pushed the agenda. That's not the case. I'm saying the agenda pushed the movie because all they cared about was him being gay.

Guess I took a different viewpoint on the movie.

Gay was just who he was. It was more just bn a person not fitting in.

Like coli Nikkas liking comics, kwowing random 7th player off the bench NBA 1970 stats, while loving wrestling.

Not fitting this "black male" image reinforced by our everyday world and by our outside world(non black). Then having to conform to who u r supposed to be, bc that what society wants u to be. Him bn gay was something different about him imo:yeshrug:

It doesn't have the stigma to the same degree, but check this thread. Even existing as a gay black man is considered by many in the community as being apart of an agenda. It's considered by many of those same folks as a sin against your own race. That has to hurt a large segment of young black boys, which is what this film specifically focused on.

Every black family has gay family member that no one really judges...except for drunk arguing and the gloves come off LOL. As far as the people in this thread that's commenting, most of them didn't even watch the movie and are fake activists for whatever hypocritical cause they think they're taking up.

if he was straight
this shyt would've been written off as just another "urban" movie
That's what I'm surprised that people are failing to see. Not that this would be how WE see the movie, but most certainly how everyone else would've seen it because there's no agenda. That's the point that's been clear as fukking day since it was released.
